Liam Neeson appears on The View for Dawn Treader

Liam Neeson, who plays Aslan in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, appeared on yesterday’s episode of The View.  He spoke a bit about the same things he mentioned in other interviews, including my own, which I am currently editing.  In the interview, he revealed he was unfamiliar with the books before being cast to voice Aslan, which he said is ironic because he was born near Belfast, Ireland, where C.S. Lewis, the author of the books, was born. It was his oldest son, 15, who introduced them to him. When Neeson told him he got the part of Aslan, his son replied, “Dad…Aslan is God!”

The film also received an enthusiastic endorsement from an unlikely source: Whoopi Goldberg.

I watched that last night, and it was hilarious! Yeah, the best part was when his son said, “Dad…Aslan IS GOD!” Hmm, maybe Liam should learn from his son… 😉

I’ve also noticed how Liam Neeson often ends up acting as [a] god in a lot of his movies, lol.

Not a surpsie that his son would get it and Liam wouldn’t actually. In one of his letters to Children, CS Lewis said to a young child that children tend to catch the symbolism of Narnia but adults very rarely did. It was common in his day and still is now ( I had English teachers who when I did a report on CS Lewis for a calss commented that they didn’t even catch the symbolism when they read the books.)

    It’s true, he does!

  4. Good to see Liam Neeson making the talk show rounds. I hope he appears on some more shows too promoting Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It’s too bad there hasn’t been more free publicity like this on U.S. TV. I would have liked to see the kids out on the shows too. Hopefully good word of mouth and appearances like this will help the film do well over the holidays.
