We have it on good authority that the release date for the next Narnia movie has been tentatively announced. Fox studios (who is supposed to distribute the film) as reserved a possible slot on April 5, 2016 for a ” Big Budget fantasy film” that is listed under the title of “Greensleeves”. Some insider speculation indicates that this could be the next Narnia movie The Silver Chair.
It is certainly plausible considering in the song describes a beautiful woman, dressed in green, who ensnares a young man to his doom. There is plenty of precedence for a movie, especially a high profile block-buster, to select a “fake title” or “working title” in order to throw off the press. Often times they will even do this to act as a place holder until more suitable title can be found. Usually the title will have something to do with the plot of the story or an inside joke on set. Even the earlier Narnia movies were not immune to this trend with “100 Year Winter”, and “Toastie” for LWW and PC.
If true, this would place it smack dab in the middle of the release dates for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. This could end up being a repeat of 2008 when we saw Prince Caspian sandwiched between Iron Man and Indiana Jones IV. Again, nothing is officially confirmed at this point and we will keep you updated as we go along.
