Ink Series, Thief Lord, Cornelia Funke

has anyone read any of cornelia funkes works?
she has written ink heart and the thief lord
they r really amazing books
and the book inkheart
is being made into a feature film made by the same people who r trying to make the book series, his dark materials
i think that the movies will be really good
and if anybody is looking for a good book i highly reccomend them

Ive heard good things about the thief lord. I really want to read it. I have really gotten back into reading childrens fantasy lit. Its so well written. Most adult fantasy is very stupid, IMO. It tends to get on my nerves. Minus LOTR of course. :D

Oh, I've read those! Theif Lord was a nice read, and I though Ink Heart was fabulous, except I despised how it kept sounding like she was building up to a high point, but then you looked and you weren't even halfway through the book yet. Tried my patience. Still an awesome story. I loved Tinkerbell's cameo.

I liked Thief Lord, but I was really excited about Ink Heart. I simply love that book (I remember when I was a book-freak like Meggie), but does anyone of you know if there's going to be a sequel? I certainly didn't like the ending with my fav character (Dustfinger? I don't know how his name was translated.) just running off and all those book people in our world.

My favourite book of Cornelia Funke is Dragonrider (at least I think that might be the English title). Does anybody know that? It's just great, the first good fantasy book I read with dragons being at last the good guys they are.

I don't know if you would like it as much as I do, but I can give you a short summary. It's about dragons hiding in Ireland or somewhere threatened by humans who want to flood their valley. One of the dragons is looking for an ancient refuge of the dragons in the Himalaya, together with a kobold and a boy. Soon they are followed by a dragon-eater and his spies, so the quest becomes a little bit tricky. But anyway, there's a lot of good guys (rats, a Professor researching fairy-tales, a Jinn, a Sea Serpent, monks, ...) helping them. If you liked Funke's other books, and don't mind fairies and basilisks and stuff, Dragonrider would be something worth reading.

that sounds pretty interesting
i looked at bn.com
and it said that it is coming out in america this august
i think
im trying to look for new books to read
while im wating for harry potter and the half blood prince
im now going crazy, now that i know the title
lol

I just picked up Inkheart at the bookstore and plan to read it in the next couple weeks. I'm so glad to hear it's good!

Edwina, I like your avi!

A).Inkspot you have to like Inkheart and Inkspell, because your name is Inkspot...acctually I was planing on asking you if you made your name for those books...heheh thanks for the answer to the unasked question!
B).I never look forward to movies made from books, becaus they always mess it up! Plus the book takes from so many other stories that you have to read alot to get it, and so the movie wont be very good because nobody will understand it...my generation is all for TV not for Books...sad really!

Even Narnia, Reepicheepfan? :)

Sorry Deplorable Word! Narnia was ok in its own sense but it wasnt the same as the book, and acctually I said to my friends on the way up, after they said "its gonna be great" I said, "My expectations say its gonna suck, untill otherwise proven."
