The last book I read was "If I Die in a Combat Zone", by Tim O'brien. It's about the Viatnam war.
He's an amazing writer.

Yes, it is. Except Annie is only 17 in the books and her brother is 10, and Lofty Craig isn't in love with Annie. We had two other books about Annie Oakley and about six of Roy Rogers. We order them off barnes and noble.
