#10: Visions of Narnia Poetry Contest

I'm happy to see the new entries! :D

I myself have been highly unsuccessful in my attempts to come up with a decent poem. :rolleyes:
 
Cair Paravel

Sweet ocean air stirs within
The walls of majesty –
The heart of the place you call home.
You listen, the lapping
Tingles at first,
Then soaks to the core.
Sounds of victory echo
Through the marble;
Under the thrones;
And resound through time, reaching into
Past and future.
Magnificent,
Gentle,
Just,
Valiant,
Home.

As long as your poem has not been entered in any other TDL event, and it fits the topic of places mentioned in the Chronicles it is okay to submit it. Thank you so much for participating!

Thanks! I entered two and I think that is all I will be able to do, since I am going to be cutting back on my screen time. I am starting to get crabby and I have a bad headache. I think it's from all my computer usage lately.
 
Narnia, Narnia!
Here. There.
Glorious lands
It bears

Where? There!
Look it calls us, closer.
So it does!
It's magic pulls us in

Let's skip out
Of this place
Beyond here
is his grace

Let's leave
this place
And forever stay
in Narnia!
And to be
forever embraced.
 
This is describing the courtyard of the White Witch's House when Edmund first visits.


In the Witch's House
Spires tower to the sky,
Black against the chilly night.
The iron gates both hang awry
Into a courtyard; though not bright,
It's dipped in eerie, silver light.

Sporting satyrs, lions, bears,
The courtyard plays the battleground,
Yet the light that on each glares
Reveals a still, snow-shrouded mound
And from the walls echoes no sound.

The soldiers are but statues; life
Now hangs suspended in each breast.
With unease the air is rife,
For this courtyard holds no rest
For its one still-breathing guest.

Congratulations Zella! This poem tied for first place with an average of 92 out of 100 possible points from the judges :D

This thread will be temporarily locked while judging is taking place... and my family is kidnapping me for Mother's Day!! so I will post contest results on Tues 5/15 instead. Sorry for the delay.

Based on the rubric scores there was a tie for first place and a close race between second and third (less than 2 points difference), plus two honorable mentions awarded.
