I read the Sonnet's thread a lot and I started thinking...Hey,I should write poems for TDL's members too! But I couldn't quite grasp the sonnets yet,so I started a thread at my level. Now I can write for ye all!

My first poem shall be for Copperfox, who inspired me to start the thread through his lovely poetry.

COPPERFOX

A bravehearted man, though he may be old
still has that fire of bold
He has won many hearts with his great sonnets
and that is why I am writing
I may be an amateur at writing this stuff
but still he does not scorn and laugh and huff
He looks forward to each one of my works
as I do his beautiful rhymes
He welcomed my sister with poetry grand
and now that she's here
she welcomes all you demand(all that rhymes, sorry:eek: doesn't make sense)
Me too,dusty I do
Love that piece that was written for me
and I hope that one day
I will find time
to read your Sophia Renee

Thanks,lemme lay another one out....

MEWSIE
That cat lovin' girl that cat lovin girl
who surprising owns also a dog
she writes about cats and nothing else thats
not about cats do you hear?
I am too,a cat lovin' gal and have yearned for one all my life
but my mom is allergic and the rest all like puppies
so I am left out of the ring.
I also noticed that she likes herbie and battlestar galactica too
I have no knowledge of that great ship but know about that car
painted red white and blue!
Mewsie,a great friend
a true one at that
could you by any chance spare me a cat?

The first was touching, the second was cute! Reagan, dear girl, no one expects a twelve-year-old to have as much experience in writing as a fifty-eight-year-old; but the poetic spirit is there in your work already, and gave me pleasure in the reading. Your sentiments for me were honestly heartwarming, and I thank you for them. I look forward to seeing you write more; and I hope you do read "Sophia Renee" soon.

(As for "Battlestar Galactica":

Did you ever hear of an old sci-fi story-series known as the Berserker series? Its premise was that long ago, an alien race created fighting robots which were programmed to kill all intelligent life except their creators; but then the programming malfunctioned, so the "Berserkers" forgot their loyalty and ALSO killed their creators. Then the killer robots flew away across the universe, senselessly hunting for other races to destroy. All this was background; the stories told how humans fought to survive once the Berserkers found THEM.

There was an episode of the original "Star Trek" inspired by the Berserkers. The original "Battlestar Galactica," then, used a similar premise: the Cylon robots had been built by flesh-and-blood aliens, but then had set out on their own. Later, when the new "Galactica" was outlined, the writers were determined to change the story into a "clever"--actually heavy-handed and obvious--allegory of the fashionable modern myth that "America created terrorism." THIS is the real reason why the new "Galactica" has the Cylons made by humans rather than by aliens.)

Cool poems Dusty!! Please keep writing. I do believe you'll be published someday as your skills improve.

Thanks,here's one for you:

BARBARIAN KING

When you first informed me of your gender
I realized I'd made quite a blunder!
A boy you were so nice to unfurl
Well oh my gosh
I always thought you a girl
I suppose it is silly to judge by an avvie and a siggie as well
but I'm just so darn confusable!
But even though a man you are, you're still nice to me
and in everyway, though virtual, every bit as lovable

That was absolutely fantastic!!!:D:D Thank you so much Dusty!! And I meant it when I said I believe you'll be published some day!!

More poems in the morning...HAVE TO SLEEP OMG IT'S 11:19 PM!
*Crashes onto laptop snoring*
:D

I agree, the poems are great!:D I've never written any poems since I was like ten...

I remember the first poem my little sister wrote. She was...five, I think?

"A hungry shark
Ate a boy named Mark.
His mother said, 'Oh, brother.'
His brother Joe
(Who was a foe)
Laughed 'Ho, ho, ho, ho.'"

:rolleyes::p

I'll write one here and now for the thread.

Of burnished gold the newborn sun is made
The crimson dawn announces its debut
And sparkling stars across the blue displayed
Must vanish with the silver morning dew

Badgers write like that, but only after their first cup of coffee.

Oh this is an old poem I wrote for school absent mindedly. I used inkspot and sopespian's names.

INKSPOT,INKSPOT PLEASE COME QUICK
LORD SOPESPIAN HAS GOTTEN SICK
HE SWALLOWED A HORSE SHOE
I SAW IT TOO
SO INKSPOT,INKSPOT PLEASE COME QUICK!

There once was a man named Phadryis
With an H where the usual I is
This limerick's insane
Cause my work weary brain
Can not hazard to guess who the guy is

Makes no sense but has a nice cadence, hmm?

Well I haven't any poems but I did write a chorus for a song about how there are only teeny bopper songs about love and hate on the radio. It's like the songs are all like "Oh I love you! be my boyfriend!" and they're all like "Oh I hate you! I'm breaking up,you never call!" so here's the chorus of what I think:

Hate songs Love songs
can't you ever make up your mind?
and get off the radio
Hate songs Love songs
Can't you just all get along?
and stay off my radio
You say that I've never heard it before
I'm gonna turn off the radio
You say that it's new and popular
Oh look I turned off the radio

I can only come up with a chorus. I have to get a break-down and middle words before I'm thru. Wish I could put up how the melody goes:(
Maybe after it's done I'll sing it and put it on you tube:)

For Seastar

Seastar the Tiger
She likes to write stories of highest swank
but I must confess I'm so bad
that even though I've been on this site so fad
I've never even read those so dapper
Oh dear I deserve a spank!
While I listen to Owl city,I find it hard to write
while this electronic beat echoes in my head
Please don't think I'm being making this trite
but you can say so when I'm dead.
The PWC,a marvalous book shop
is where I write but never read
I should be arrested by a cop
for doing such a deed!
So forgive me Seastar
you've read mine but me never yours
I'll read it someday after I'm done with chores
and put all my neglectance in a jar
