It was to Caspian's great fortune that he never encountered any of our fleet.

His little dingy would not have sufficed against even one of our lesser vessels (not to mention our mighty war ships) all oared with slaves and manned with warriors and archers atop decks.

The audacity of this unspectacular (and ultimately futile expedition) is proof that the barbarian may enjoy limited success, not despite his ignorance but because of it.

Welcome, Tarkaan. I didn't see you post before. You talk a good game.

But here we have to keep to the topic ... do you think the ship looks like a ride?

My gratitude for your generous welcome noble and astute mod. I merit no praise, being the very least of your subjects, fit only to grovel as befits a Calormen who knows his place.

Indeed, it does. But as I recall the original illustrations were also somewhat unusual. Hardly a seaworthy vessel but typical of the unrefined Narnian aesthetic. The images on this thread don't inspire confidence but, as some have noted, on screen it may nevertheless appear heroic and inspiring as it plies the high seas...

...unfortunately of course.

You know, I have to say that when I first saw pictures of the Dawn Treader I imagined myself in the top row with my hands in the air, swinging back and forth...

Best carnival ride ever! Hopefully on film it won't look quite as plastic. I'm gonna stay optimistic and say it will probably look beautiful.

Y'know I've been thinking (and this may've already be adressed here) but the Dawn Treader IS manmade in the book... so it can't look perfect, and everyone will think it looks differently.

Though I agree I hope they make it look less plastic in the movie... but the Dawn Treader is still my screensaver!

Welcome, IrishSongBird! I didn't see you post before.

I agree with you and Mozart -- it may look like a ride, but the best ride ever.

That good fortune is probably going to follow you in many threads, whenever you get off topic!!!

Things are not quite over yet with the ship.
Heres an Australian article about a set visit with an audio file which gives some idea whats been happening with the ship after the Cleveland Point filming finished.

It was modeled after a ride, but looks far better.

The ship does look a little silly as is, but I'm sure it'll look much better once it gets in the water... Or gets the CGI to make it look like it's in the water.
