Glenburne and Zella,
Reading your last poems just now made my day! Glenburne's Guardian was chilling with the images and atmosphere you create. Zella's sonnet was so charged with emotion I was drawn into this precious last moment...

Looks like fun! Here's my entry:
To an Evil Ape
Back at the beginning, when the world was still young
A boy gave up hope, to undo what he'd done.
Now at the end, when the world has grown old,
A monkey has traded his country for gold.
He set up himself as the mouthpiece of God,
And ruled his fellows with a Calormene rod.
He fattened himself on the woes of the squirrels,
And denied to a lamb, the privilege of words.
Oh Ape, you were clever! You sold them your lie.
You've had your reward—the shells by your side.
But the dogs and the bears--the ones you despise--
Are rising again; they will bring your demise.
Now at the ending, wise Shift can you tell,
Why wisdom and cunning have brought you to hell?
But children have trusted, and fools have prayed,
And an idiot donkey shall surely be saved.

Those two are my favorite lines--the general principle is so true and shows up all through Proverbs.

This bit was my favorite. It was a wonderful poem, good job!!
I'm not sure I'll be able to enter. The issue with my sister's illness kinda got me sidetracked. Don't wait for me if I don't enter before the month ends. There will be other chances for sure.

What kind of messed-up set of priorities is this? Putting family love, and life-or-death situations in the real world, ABOVE doing fun things? We should only have MORE people with your kind of messed-up priorities.

Okay here are the Results from our eight judges that included 2 moderators, one English teacher, 5 Narniacs not on the Forum (including three teenagers, 1 twenty-something, and one octogenarian who read the Chronicles when they first came out in the 50's and who studied with Clyde Kilby in the 80's at the Marion Wade Center at Wheaton College):
