Percy Jackson & The Olympians.

I read a good chunk of the first one. It seems like a great series. The author came to my school last year... he was a really cool guy. =]

I believe I saw a preview for the movie in the theaters last week. I thought it looked really, really interesting and I'd love to see it!

Yeah when I saw Half Blood Prince for the second time, in New York, I saw a preview for it and the fellow who plays Percy is really attractive, so I was like, "I want to see that movie," and then I saw it was based on a book, so I was like, "Okay, I'll read the book first," and now I'm addicted. I am OBSESSED with Greek mythology, so it was perfect.

You saw HBP in New York?!?! I was there when the movie first came out, there were soooo many people lined up to see the midnight showing that we couldn't even get into our hotel!! Longest. movie line. I've ever seen.

On topic: No, I've never read PJATO, yet, but it sounds like a really interesting book series and I would like to read it. :)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Hey guys, I am wondering if any of y'all have read the book and watched the movie. I just finished the book and was wondering how the movie compared.

I am currently searching for access to the other books (probably will end up buying them). The closest theater with it showing is 30 minutes away.

I just read the book, and I liked it a lot -- enough to go ahead and buy the second one. I have not seen the film yet, but I want to! I hope to see it this week sometime.

I've already read all the books and I got to see the movie last night with my mom and brother.

The movie has the basic plot line from the book and it does include some of the more important bits from the book, but otherwise the book and the movie have little in common.

I have not read the books but I did see the movie and I thought it was awesome. So much better than most movies that are being made now.

I'm seeing the film hopefully next weekend.
Snow prevented us from getting to see it this weekend, but I'm excited.
A few friends have seen it and said it isn't a good adaptation, so I'm a bit skeptical, but they said it was a good film otherwise.

Yah, I saw in featurette that Luke and Percy both use the flying shoes, and there was no mention at all of Grover getting to use them, so that made me wonder if they were not sticking very closely to the book in the script of the film. I still want to see the movie for myself though.

Basically, what is being said is that I probably would have enjoyed the movie better if I had not read the book. That is fine, I will still be seing it sometime.

I haven't read any of the books yet but I saw the first movie with my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it. I've been a fan of Greek Mythology since I studied it in Junior High School.

Hey Aslan and Lucy Fan, welcome! I didn't see you post before. :)

Thanks for your comment - I want to see the movie soon.

So I finally saw the movie last Sunday, and although that it was almost completely different from the book. I still quite enjoyed it. Actually, it made me understand the books better. SPOILER: Like, I couldn't understand how a human could ever marry a god, it was always confusing to me. However, after seeing the movie, I now understand that the Gods go into a human form and find love on Earth.
Grover was hilarious in this movie. He cracked me up soooo much! xD

And does anybody else think that Logan Lerman(Percy) looks a lot like Skandar Keynes when he's in armor? ;)
