According to industry insiders, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader could be arriving on the Gold Coast as early as next month. Film industry workers on the Gold Coast told The Bulletin that they had been in contact with Narnia’s producers to get a crew together.
Pre-production is expected to begin as early as next month, and will remain at Warner Roadshow Studios until filming wraps in November. The Gold Coast was rumored to be a favorite location, thanks to its $2.1 million water tank. The Pacific Film and Television Commission has been working overdrive to bring Narnia to Queensland, with Sydney being the biggest competitor.
The PFTC was unable to confirm anything until the film was given the official green light, and a contract was confirmed. If the deal is signed, it’ll be the first major big-budget production on the Gold Coast since Nim’s Island and Fool’s Gold in 2007.
