Narnia Nostalgia – A Series on Previous Narnia Adaptations

Mark Sommer is currently in the midst of writing a series of articles on previous Narnia adaptations, such as the BBC Radio Drama and the Focus on the Family Radio Drama. Previous articles in the series have been about the animated The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and the BBC TV versions of the series. Last week, he posted an article about the Radio Drama versions of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and I’d like to invite you to read it.

Based on his reflections thus far, the Focus on the Family version seems to be of such high quality that when compared to the BBC radio dramas, it’s like comparing the effects of the BBC TV Narnia films to the Walden Media films. He’s loving the radio dramas so far. Having listened to Focus on the Family’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader adaptation prior to my set visit, I have to agree. They are very high quality adaptations (if not very telling of how much the story would have to be altered to make for a film with a satisfying conclusion on an emotional level, but that’s a story for another time, which I’m sure someone will e-mail me about after the movie comes out so that I remember to elaborate on it).
