Today, the Official Narnia Facebook Page has added a new interview with Will Poulter, which was conducted by publicist Ernie Malik last September. We’d like to introduce you to Will Poulter, who won the role of the irascible brat, Eustace Clarence Scrubb, in the THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER.
How did you come to get the role of Eustace? What was the audition process like for you?
I was really lucky because I got to go to the very first audition in London. But it was postponed due to the writers’ strike in America. So, six months later, they contacted me and asked if I would like to audition again. I was lucky that I hadn’t really grown much; otherwise it could have been difficult [to be considered for the part]. So, I was really lucky to get onto the next round of casting, and then I finally got to meet [director] Michael [Apted] and audition with Georgie [Henley, who plays Lucy] and Skandar [Keynes, who plays Edmund]. I was a complete newbie, and hadn’t really done much film work, so I was very nervous in the audition. Then, Michael rang me up and told me I got the part, which was really, great. I should also say that it’s been over two years since I first auditioned for the role. I had already done “Son of Rambow” at that point.
