Press Release: Carrie Underwood Co-Writes and Records End Title Song for Dawn Treader

Here’s the press release for the Carrie Underwood song that has been causing quite a lot of news lately. I had suspected that this song would be recorded by different artists in different markets, and I was correct. In what sounds to me like an industry first, the song is being recorded by international artists for other countries around the world! Joe McElderry has recorded the song for the UK, and Swedish boy-band E.M.D. has recorded it for Sweden.

Multi-platinum selling recording artist, songwriter, and 5-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood has recorded the end title song, “There’s a Place for Us,” for the holiday motion picture event THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER in theaters December 10^th.

Underwood agreed to co-write (with David Hodges and Hillary Lindsey) and record the song, produced by her famed, multi-platinum producer Mark Bright, after the filmmakers screened for them a rough cut of the picture.

Underwood commented: “I’m a big fan of the ‘Narnia’ books and films, so I was really excited about seeing this new movie and writing and performing a song for it. I was blown away by the film, and I think people are going to be really excited when they see it. It’s the perfect holiday film.

“THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER presents an imaginative world that’s also relatable because it’s easy to connect the characters and themes to our own lives,” Underwood continues. “The land of Narnia represents a place where the young heroes truly belong. That inspired me to get together with David and Hillary and write ‘There’s a Place for Us,’ which says that for everybody, there’s a place where you’re powerful and where you belong. The movie and song are about finding that place where you fit in.”

“There’s a Place for Us” will receive major broadcast and online debuts this month, and will be available for purchase exclusively at iTunes on November 16^th.

International cover versions of Underwood’s song will be recorded overseas in a small number of select countries, broadening the impact of this worldwide release.
