Tonight Deadline listed some early sales results from Friday’s Box Office Sales. The website estimates that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has sold $9 million which would give the movie a projected opening weekend of $26.3 million. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe sold $23 million opening day ($65.5 million opening weekend for a total of $745 million) and Prince Caspian sold $19 million opening day ($55 million opening weekend for a total of $419.6 million). If Deadline’s numbers are accurate the Voyage of the Dawn Treader may not be successful enough for Fox to make more Narnia movies, but there is something you can do about it. Opening weekend sales are a critical way to measure the success of a film. If you would like to ensure that The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a success and that more Narnia Movies are made I strongly advise you to see the movie this weekend. I encourage you to take your entire family to the movies this Saturday or Sunday. If you want to see a new movie adaptation of The Silver Chair you need to encourage all of your friends and family to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader this week. Lets join together to ensure that these low estimates don’t become a reality, because if we don’t it may be the end of any hope for future Narnia movies. I hope Deadline’s numbers are wrong, but I have shared them because a fellow NarniaFans.com writer Michael Thom believes that this is a reliable source. Hopefully Narnia Fans will prove that website wrong by showing up in their local theaters to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader again with their family and friends.
