Reviews from ReelAdvice, the NY Times, and more

Here are five reviews of the movie from quite a variety of sources!

Mid-Day reviewed the movie, and here was their verdict: “For its visual appeal and enchanting story, this voyage is definitely worth taking.” An excerpt from the article which I loved: “Harry Potter fans might look down upon The Chronicles Of Narnia as an enterprise trying to duplicate their success. Despite similarities between the two works (wizardry, magic, heroic children), Narnia has created a niche of its own. After a brilliant start and a weak middle, the third in series — Voyage of the Dawn Treader — brings back the much deserved glory to the franchise.” You can read the whole article HERE.

ReelAdvice rated the movie 4.5/5. Their verdict? ‘”The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” is a surprisingly outstanding film and another step forward for the film series. … [the movie] is good, even better than the second movie. We sure hope that there would be more movies from the C.S Lewis’s novels.” Read the whole article HERE.

Stuff.co.uk gave the movie 4/5 stars. Here’s what they said of it: “The Chronicles of Narnia will never have the prestige or pretensions of the Potters or the Rings, but these films are still an enjoyable way to pass a couple of kid-friendly hours. More, please.” You can read the whole review HERE.

InMyCommunity also posted a review. The author wrote of her experience: “I felt I was a fifth Pevensie sibling – sister to Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy – magically transported from a shabby cupboard to the mythical realm of Narnia, where animals talked and I was deemed special; a queen no less.” … “Religion aside, the spellbinding story of good versus evil took me, and many kids, on a wild and wonderful ride that offered up escapism while triggering the imagination.” Those of you interested in watching the movie in 3D will like to know that she said, “The 3D special effects give this power-packed adventure even greater intensity; water often laps out at you and fire aggressively strikes forward (I wonder if Elizabeth was impressed.).” Read the whole article HERE.

The New York Times wrote an article about the Dawn Treader. While they didn’t specifically review the film, they talked about all the difficulties that occurred in making it, and about how this movie will have to do well to ensure the continuation of the series. I highly recommend reading the whole article HERE. It’s titled “Studios Battle to Save Narnia (From Grip of Sequel Fatigue).
