Smithsonian’s National Zoo, 20th Century Fox and Walden Media Host Special Lion Cub Naming Ceremony

The National Zoo will be joined by actors Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes who star in the upcoming holiday motion picture event, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader for a special naming ceremony Thursday, December 9th.

In celebration of the upcoming movie and C.S. Lewis’ beloved books, the cast will announce the name of one of the Zoo’s seven lion cubs (http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GreatCats/LionUpdates/default.cfm), a 10-week-old male cub born to female lion Nababiep Sept. 22 and sired by the Zoo’s lion Luke.

The event supports the Zoo’s great-cat conservation, research and public education. The Zoo’s seven lion cubs will make their public debut Dec. 18, weather permitting, after they have received all of their vaccinations. The film will open in theaters nationwide Friday, December 10.
