She asked the enthralled children, aged between five and 16 years old, whether they had ever enjoyed turkish delight, which famously features in the show, and joked there should be “no screaming too loudly”.
Wearing a teal dress from high street chain Zara and a black jacket from Whistles, she walked over from Kensington Palace to join children from The Art Room charity, of which she is patron.
She was given a cuddly toy of Aslan, the heroic lion at the center of the Narnia books, by schoolgirl Suhani Kapoor and engaged the children in conversation during the interval.
The duchess asked one group: ”What I want to know is: has anyone tried Turkish Delight?” a reference to the sweet used by the White Witch to entice Edmund Pevensie away from his siblings in Lewis’s story.
This isn’t the first time that the British Royal Family has taken in the Narnian stories, as both The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader were given the royal treatment as the official selections for the Royal Film Premiere when they were released.
