APRIL FOOLS! Silver Chair to be a Netflix Original Movie

Netflix has come a long way since it’s early days. Once a way to rent movies on-line, thanks to their acclaimed TV shows like Stranger Things, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Punisher, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and DreamWorks Trollhunters, and original movies like Bright, it has quickly become the home for fresh, original TV shows and movies. The streaming service also generated major buzz after this year’s Super Bowl when they dropped a trailer for the film Cloverfield Paradox during the big game, only to make the movie available an hour after the game ended.

With network time slots and movie theater screens becoming a precious commodity, it’s no wonder Netflix looks so lucrative. Thanks to our source, Nelson Murdoch, we are pleased to announce that the fourth film in the Narnia series The Silver Chair, will be a Netflix exclusive original movie and will be available on the streaming service December 6th of next year.

“We are excited to bring the magic of Narnia into everyone’s homes, just in time for Christmas,” said Sue Donem, an associate of Netflix chief content officer, Ted Sarandos.

“Honestly, looking back at the last installment, one thing that affected it’s box office performance was severe winter storms that kept people from venturing out,” said Erin Green, a representative for the Mark Gordon Company. “Now  fans will be able to enjoy the movie from the comfort of their home on a cold winter day.”

While it is understandable why they would chose to go this route, it will be sad not seeing it on the big screen like the past movies. However, sources close to the project indicate that if The Silver Chair generates enough interest, there is an option on the table for a special limited engagement theatrical run.
