Jane Austen Club

"Mansfield Park" is one of my least favorite Jane Austen books. It and "Northanger Abbey" are my two least favorites. I'm not sure why, they just don't seem as interesting as all of the others. Although I enjoy all of her novels! :)

Really? I enjoyed those two. Of course, Northanger Abbey came along at a time when I could really relate to Catherine, and I think that's why I liked it so much.

Which one is your favorite?

^ I love that one, too. (Can you tell? :p) It's my favorite...

The other day in Barnes and Noble I was looking at the journals, and they had a Jane Austen one! It was really pretty. :D It had an illustration on the cover of a girl from that time period, and it had little pictures and quotes from Austen's stories (quotes about writing) on a lot of the pages. It was very cool, and I would have bought it, except that it was kind of small and the store only had one left, and the cover was bent.

Messah back, yeah, I just recently read Sense and Sensibility for the first time and ended it with a big smile on my face. Jane had a real talent for making you change your opinion of a person thrice in the space of three chapters.

Shucks! That's a bummer because it sounds really pretty.

LOL that is such a good point!! You're talking about Wiloughby, aren't you?

I LOVE the Colin Firth P&P!!! Oh it's just the best!!!

Willoughby, Darcy, Wicham, Edward Ferrars, etc. They all fit the mold, some you hate one minute and love the next, others love at first and end up hating in the end.

I've seen them... they are soooo nice, but quite pricey too. You wouldn't be using them for shopping lists!!!!

Yeah, a lot of their journals are pricey...the Jane Austen one was only about $12, though. I ended up paying a couple dollars more for the one I bought (a very beautiful one). But they have much more fancier ones...Some of them are leather journals, handmade in Italy, that cost between $26 and $40! But they are so gorgeous. I told my mom I'd like to splurge for one of them just once in my life. :p I keep a journal, so I really love them and like to have a pretty one, LOL.

Wow, sorry I'm so off-topic.

I like to have one, but I think that it would be much sweeter if someone special gave it too me!

Okay now to get back on topic!!! :D

Becoming Jane just came in at the library so I'm going to get to see it in the next week or so! I'm kind of excited!

^ Be sure to tell us what you think of it.

I really would like to see "Becoming Jane" again, although I didn't like it much the first time I saw it. I need to see if my library has it. :)

Woow. I never knew we had a Jane Austen thread. =/ Well right now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice (and have been for the past month) :p:rolleyes:

My favorite Austen book thus far is Northanger Abbey simply for the hilarity of it all. I especially loved the Masterpiece Theater rendition of it. J.J. Fields as Mr. Tilney was amazing.

I'm currently in the middle of Sense and Sensibility and liking it so far.

Becoming Jane was OK. Not one of my favorite movies but OK for a couple hours of entertainment.

Okay I loved NA too!!! The book was so funny! I really did like Catherine too as far as I remember.

And JJFields is wonderful! He's also in Ruby in the Smoke which is really good if you ever get the chance to see it.

I watched the new "Pride and Prejudice" (I wonder how much longer I can call a movie made in 2005 "new", LOL...but I guess it is new compared to the BBC) again last night for the zillionth time. :D I love that movie so much! It's just lovely.

I really want to read the book again this summer, but I have a huge list of books I want to read, so I don't know if I'll actually do it. :p
