Chapter 18
The Siege of Reandalawo
It was two hours before dawn. Shawnti decided it was the perfect time to strike.
‘They’ll be asleep and not prepared for us.’ she thought.
The she-cat nodded and one of the soldiers flashed torchlight on a sheild. It reflected off three other shields. They charged silently, only to be assailed by dozens of arrows from the wall, one of which was Dorthy's.
"Take that you scum!" cried down the kitten.
"Hold your tounge youngster." cautioned Ribbony "The time for insults will come, but it is not now."
Dorthy sighed, and fitted another arrow on her bow (which by the way I have neglected to tell that it was the bow Myrrh gave her... Jako and Misty had found it as well as Toto's weapons as they rescued Mozart and of course gave them back to the respected owners.) and mumbled "A war without insults is a dull war indeed my brothers used to say."
Brightheart chuckled and muttered back, "Then they were as defiant as you, friend."
When Shawnti and her forces were out of range, the arrows stopped. The Reanlawoins were no fools, they were not about to run out of arrows either.
Now Toto and Caspian were horrible with bows. Mozart was a fine shot, and Dorthy was excelent, but the boys possesed no talent with a bow or arrow. So their brothers- thinking it important for them to have some long-range skill- taught them about slings and stones. So Toto and Caspian had orginized anyone who volulentered to teach them about slings.
"Hold the sling like this when ya wanna fire. No not that way Frodo, its upside down now!"
"Jak don't fit a stone in your sling yet, we ain't firing now."
"Hey gimme them stones ye holigans! Now I say, you too Jak, Misty, bad 'zamples for the little ones you are."
"Proper little dictators those two are, eh Mist?"
"Quite Jak, but once we were the same way."
"Did you just call me little Jaklikeo? 'Cause iffin you did, prepare to be injured by a loaded sling!"
"No, ah, sir Caspian, I said, er, brittle, yes brittle!"
"Alright then, but never call me the L word again!"
"Yes Sir!" they all choursed.
