  • So today I had pumpernikiel bread for breakfast, and it made me think of Cats. Why do they translate Rumpleteazer to Prumpernikeil? Makes no sense to me.
Oh well. Now it's stuck in my head. I think the Russian version is my favourite of that song.
SingingDryad, thanks for the birthday wishes. I've been swamped with a variety of activities lately and haven't been as devoted to narniafans as I would like, but I'll be back periodically.
ooh, now I'm listening to Cats in Polish. I can get youtube now, 'parently.
I wish I could find the cd somewhere here, but alas, that is not possible.
I'm responding to it right now.

Also, since you like RENT, have you heard Tick, Tick...Boom! ? It's written by the same composer as RENT, and it has some wonderful songs.
Are there still a lot of Polish women who color their hair red? There were when I was in Gdynia.
    oh hello there. :D
I saw Company at a movie theater last night. (omg, Neil Patrick Harris!) It was amazing; I almost cried, and everyone in the theater applauded after all the songs. Now I'm all happy.
    *skips in a merry circle*
There are filmed productions of Into the Woods AND Company available on DVD, so look for those, if you can (maybe while you're in America..?). Not the same as live theater, but it's all I've got.

I'd love to go to Poland. I'm one quater Polish, actually.
You sould. There's another version out now, with Neil Patrick Harris, but I don't know if there's gonna be a cast recording...I don't think so.

INTO THE WOODS!!! IS AMAZING!!! No, seriously, it's awesome. It's another Sondheim musical, and it's not based on any book. It's about your typical fairy tale characters (Little Red, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella). In the first act, they all make a wish and get what they wish for, in the second act, it all goes wrong. It is very funny and the music is wonderful. Also, it has Bernadette Peters in it, which is always a plus. (I love that woman. She's gorgeous and very talented).
It flips from being hilarious to being heartbreaking, and it is probably the most important show of my teenage life. But keep in mind it was written for adults (though if you're a rocky horror fan, you won't be offended by it). It was written in the 1970, and there are four different cast recordings:
    1. the original (amazing, though kind of dated)
    2. 1995 broadway revival (I've only heard one song, so I can't judge)
    3. Original London (AWFUL.)
    4. 2006 Broadway Revival (AMAZING. This is the one I heard first, so it's my absolute favourite).
    Haha, sorry you asked?
I would die, I think, without my musicals, I really would same with books.

Company is about a single man (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by George Furth), surrounded by friends who are married. They constantly bombard him with requests and insist that he settle down, but he'd rather just sleep around and be irresponsible...and really he doesn't know what he wants at all. It's really about deciding what you want out of life and becoming an adult. There is not really a direct plot, instead, it's a bunch of different scences depicting the ups and downs of married life.
Broadway is my holy land. West End is cool, but...I dunno, Broadway just seems more magical.
oooh, I love Indina Menzel, though I don't like Wicked. My favourite musical is still Company. Musicals soothe my soul and keep me sane. I don't know what I'd do without them.
(also, Youtube is blocked on here...)
I have never been to California. I live on the East cost, which I love and hate all at once.
New York City is where I want to go. That's where I plan to live when I grow up. There's Broadway! And to me, that's all that matters.
Oh, I think everyone cries at some point during RENT. Well, except your brother. maybe he's evil. :D

ah, well, someone told me my reasons for not believing in God were selfish and not intellegent, pretty much.

Oooh, where in the USA? I'm not doing much. Going to a movie tomorrow, other than that...studying plays and working.
