Collier County teachers and administrators will be the special guests of the Naples International Film Festival (NIFF) for a special presentation during festival screenings taking place at the Silverspot Cinema on Saturday, November 6th. This program will feature representatives from BlueNose Edutainment and Walden Media in a behind-the-scenes introduction to the upcoming release of C.S. Lewis’s classic tale The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third film in The Chronicles of Narnia series.
The 20th Century Fox film will open in movie theatres nationwide this coming December 10th.
Included in the presentation will be an introduction to the screenwriting lesson plans provided by BlueNose (www.BlueNoseEd.com). Designed for students in grades 5 to 12, the lesson plans are consistent with national and state reading and writing standards. The lesson plans, developed by research psychologist and novelist Dr. Michael Milone, are based on script segments from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader provided by 20th Century Fox.
The presentation will also include sample footage from the upcoming release, background information of the filming on location, and an introduction to the use of 3D for this particular film. The purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate the use of popular media as a way of motivating students to excel in the core subjects of reading and writing. Collier County teachers and students will be showcased as a national model for school districts around the country.
