    Genealogy

My mom, though born and raised on the States, is 100% Mexican. I have been able to trace back to the mid-1800's. My dad is a mix of Great Britain (English, Scottish, Irish) and Native American. On line is traced to the area of Norwich, England c. 1620.

How they sat around the table

I had always thought (but I do accept that I could be wrong) that they were at a standard dining room table, at which the diners would sit at the long sides of the table. If you look from one side of the table, I picture, from left to right: Peter, Digory, Edmund, then Polly. From the other...

Do you think Susan ever made it to Aslan's Country?

I believe that Susan does make it. However, if she continues on the path that is described at the end of TLB, she may end up like the dwarves. Within Aslan's County but not recognizing it as such.

    Name Origins

My username is a bit of a munge of my full name. The first "r" is for Robert. "ray" is for Raymond. "m" is for McGirt. I came up with it because, in my first IT job, somebody else had already claimed "rrm".

Narnia In what order should the Chronicles of Narnia be read?

I prefer publication order. It is how I first read it. I still prefer publication and here's why: In LWW, we are introduced to the Old Professor and the Wardrobe. There is passing references to them in PC and VDT. While reading SC and HHB, I, and I suspect others, have completely forgotten...

How did Jadis come to control Narnia?

Perhaps the Narnians of LWW did not know Jadis' full background, just bits and pieces, some of which the Beavers spoke of. When she did come to rule Narnia, they saw, amongst other things, that she made the land always winter. Perhaps, because of that, they, the Narnians of LWW, gave her the...

    "lipstick, nylons and invitations"

Over the years, the perception of women has obviously changed. I would like to point out the even the perception of women about women has changed. The women that Jack may have spoken with in the 1950s would almost certainly have a different perception/expectations about women in comparison to...

    "lipstick, nylons and invitations"

I apologize. I started this reply incorrectly. I meant to say: I DO NOT disagree.

    "lipstick, nylons and invitations"

I do disagree with anything already mentioned, but I thought that I would add another thought. I wonder if it is not so much a loss of faith, but that other "things" overtook her faith. For many of us, our faith first develops in childhood. Many people (like my dad), try to live as adults...

Revelation Paralleled with The Last Battle.

I think that Rishda is just a conniving fool who is taking advantage of the situation for his own gain, power, money, and glory. He will support anyone who will help him get what he wants. And he will say and do anything and oppose anyone who crosses him.

You don't have to be Christian to love Narnia

Many people read or study the Bible and see it as history or literature or mythology. They can thoroughly enjoy the words on the page much like "Anna Karenina" or "Oliver Twist", seeing it all as just words. I contend, though, deeper meaning can be found in both the Bible and Narnia (and many...

    Concerns about Netflix's Narnia

I am concerned that if too much time and/or funds are used in depicting the period between the start of the Pevensie rule and the start of Prince Caspian, they will run out of time/funds to produce the remaining stories.
