When Are Viet Cong Not Viet Cong? --a Story Set in the Pholus Universe

I'm wondering if Rob has ever considered using the voice dictation feature in a word processing program like Word. When I can touchtype, I can run circles around having to go in and do spell check here and there, but it's MUCH faster and less stressful than one handed typing. Just be sure to...

    The Otherness of Narnia

I usually let my characters speak for me. It was fun to write directly to my audience, and I'll be sure to do it again sometime. Pax vobiscum John +

Narnia In what order should the Chronicles of Narnia be read?

My house is littered with dozens of unwanted paintings of ships at sea. None of them worked.... I also have a large slightly-used wardrobe I'll give away, with the caveat that it's only good for storing fur coats (included).

Actually not a close equivalent to "The Visitor." This story was actually begun about 21 years ago and I didn't know how to properly resolve it. I had a separate fascination with what happens to people who go into a coma (The Visitor) and people who are interlocking (Topsy Turvy) and any...

What was the last Video game you played?

Personally I wonder why they call it a "joystick" when it's so FRUSTRATING. ;-) Same thing about a "controller" when I can't control one. ;-)

    Do you like this book

I like the Magician's Nephew because it hints at a vast tree of separate realities. Sometimes people have this knee-jerk reaction and ask why God would need to make more than one creation. That's when I nod and wink and say, "He didn't need YOUR creation, but aren't you glad He did it anyhow?"

Narnia In what order should the Chronicles of Narnia be read?

Maybe they'd pass through platform 9 3/4 for the Narnia Express...... (Harry Potter fans will get that one).

I remember that terrible Far Side comic where the centaur is lying on the ground and his wife is horrified. Because the vet said, "His leg is broken, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to shoot him...."

Narnia In what order should the Chronicles of Narnia be read?

Diggory Kirk grew up to be the professor. The fruit he brought back for his sick mother had a seed which he planted. That grew into the tree which later fell and the wood used to make a wardrobe through which the Pevensies travelled to Narnia. That is canon.

The Eagle and Child pub is closed.

I know the reference is only tangental, but I'm reminded of a quote from the novel 1984 when, having rid the world of conflicting opinions and history, "there is only the eternal now, in which the party is always right." When we lose respect for our history, we lose respect for our foundation.

Silly Ideas for the Netflix Narnia Movies

Really, really sick idea. Just like the Flintstones, the four Pevensies have talking beasts around the house that operate as "equipment" like an elephant for a vacuum clener, and large gryphons as "Narnia Air".

8 PERCHANCE TO DREAM Ruddy Hedgely had never dreamt before. It was an odd sensation, and he had no words to describe it. He found himself in a small flowery meadow surrounded by trees. Somehow, he knew it wasn’t a place, it was the place, a small cozy world that felt like a meadow someone...

7 THE PASSAGE There is such a thing as the tired, those folk who having spent a day in worthy toil and care bed down to hand the tiller to the Great Captain of all Sailors. Then there is the restless tired, folk who have something on their mind or who suffer some pain or need that deprives...

6 A RUDE AWAKENING Ruddy sprang out of bed in the middle of the night. That was something he had never done before. “Dear, what’s wrong??” “I’ve been shot!” He searched himself for the bullet hole and was temporarily relieved not to find one. There was no more pain, and no blood on the...
