I did find how the book dealt with the end of The Two Towers not as good as the movie. In the Book Sam puts on the ring to hide from the orcs and overhear their plans. In the movie he is able to hide and overhear the orcs without using the ring. I find the movie version much better in the...
I am about thru with The Two Towers. Frodo looks like he is dead from the attack of the big spider. I remembered from the movie that he lived. Well, on to the second book of Harry Potter next. Again, I have not read the Harry Potter books before or seen the movies.
Frodo and Sam seems to have switched personalities in The Two Towers. Frodo was a lot more naive in The Fellowship of the Ring and now he is much more wise. Sam on the other hand showed much more experienced while now he is clearly out of his league. Book has really slowed down since I got to...
I wasn't really impressed with the magic rope of Sam's. It reminds me of Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility, weak plot development. Thought better of Tolkien. There are ways to have saved the rope as long as it had been longer. In the movie you are not sure the rope is magic. Looks more...
Yeah, I get that each book in the trilogy is divided into 2 sub-books. And that Frodo and Sam won't show up till the second book of the The Two Towers. Gandalf's army and the trees just saved Aragorn, Legolas, Theoden, and Gimli is where I am now.
Still reading The Two Towers. Yeah, Gandalf has returned! Almost as exciting as Aslan returning.
Still nothing about Frodo and Sam. Plan to read the second Harry Potter book after this.
I just started reading The Two Towers. Boromir is died, Merry and Pippin are prisoners of the Orcs, and Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are in pursuit. Nothing about Frodo and Sam.
I am just now jumping into HP and LOTR for the first time. The magic in HP is fake and means nothing except to push the plot development. Cloak of invisibility means nothing, just a tool the help move the plot along. Ms. Rowling knows nothing about real magic. HP, CON and LOTR are all...
I never liked the idea of children starting 1st grade (in America) before 6½. If that means than they are almost 7½ before starting 1st grade then fine.
Something not mentioned about the girl's schooling is that Finishing Schools were still around and popular in those days. Young ladies often left normal schools at 15 and entered Finishing School for a year. If you read the books by Kate Douglas Wiggin after Finishing School young ladies...
The movie Grease, which I loved, had major problems with casting of older actors. Olivia Newton John was way older than John Travolta and a good 10 years older than the character she played.
Finished Fellowship of the Ring. Now going to go thru the first Harry Potter Book before continuing with The Two Towers. Boromir doesn't die in this book like the movie. It is saved for the next book.
Disney, which has only lost 27% of its stock value YTD, has broader shoulders, so is stronger. But Disney will not take up Narnia again. People will go out more this summer while they can still afford the cost of gas. Netflix may allow a foreign film maker the right to make one movie to see...
