This interview with a current fantasy author (posted in another thread as well) about what his experiences growing up with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe started me thinking about world-building. Some fantasy authors spend a lot of time creating their alternative worlds--everything has to...
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't sure if it belonged here or the Duffer forum, but I thought I might get a better response here.
Does anyone know of a good LOTR/Tolkien fan site/forum? Something like this forum? I've been looking, but I can't find anything.
Considering that there are so many things to be learned from the Narnian world, I thought LOTR might teach a similar number...
1. Don't spend your life studying evil, even to defeat it, or it will defeat you (i. e. Saruman).
2. You're safest in your hobbit-hole.
3. Hairy feet are good for...
I decided I'd start a thread here for another book by Tolkien, that isn't LOTR or the Hobbit.
Any rate has any one here read hsi Father Christmas letters? It's a really neat collection of letters from "Father Christmas" that Tolkien wrote to his children. It's amazing to read as you can even...

Legolas could have a snipers rifle instead of a bow, and two pistols istead of the two knives...
I just got it from the library - it's great! Has anyone else looked at it? All the music was authorized by Tolkien...except perhaps the last (?).
It's a musical score for a few of Tolkien's poems:
The Road Goes Ever On
Upon the Hearth the Fire Is Red
In the Willow-meads of Tasarinan
In...
