this thread is for any fans of the 1979 animated version of the lion the witch and the wardrobe.
i own this on dvd and although its old and fairly budget, i still think its great, it reminds me of being a kid and being sick in winter and watching the movie in bed with hot chocolate (cos my parents love me, lol)

i can actually remember once after watching this movie (would have been about 7 years old), me and my older sister went down to the deli to buy turkish delight and i choked on the icing suger and now im afraid of turkish delight  , which is probably a good thing if i ever find myself in narnia i will reject the turkish delight, but i might have to have some hot chocolate

so yeah just kinda wondering what everyone else thinks of the movie and why they like it, what does it remind them off and what is your favourite bit.

I won this from Ebay 2 days ago, can't wait to recieve it and watch it after all these years.

It's one of those cartoons that's always been in the back of my mind as one of the earliest childhood cartoons.

I remember being oh so sad seeing the Lion die and my mom and sis were sad too.

I will reply with a full report once I get it, can't wait.

for sure, you gotta love ebay for uncovering childhood memories

I saw it first in 1983, I was in my 20's. A church group showed it to us to encourage us to understand and read Christian fiction. The BBC version wasn't made for another 5 years. Hey there is a recipe for Turkish Delight in the DVD of the BBC version. See if you like it now. :p

The animated music is better than the BBC i love the animated soooo much

So am I! This is why I wanted Lucy to be a blonde, and Sean Biggerstaff to be Peter!

I was waiting for some of the lines from the animated movie. Some were in there, I am glad to say!

Thanks for the welcome, and yes Will is tre cute! But does anyone agree that Sean Biggerstaff would have made a good Peter?

i think i'm the only one who found it a little .. odd .. i don't know, there was something about peter's voice that made me laugh .. and .. yeah. i love LWW, but this was just odd! lol

I just wanted to chime in on this...

I really enjoyed the cartoon version as well. I thought the cartoon version was the better of the two...partly because I thought the casting in the BBC version was poor, and it was too low budget to make a reasonable rendition of narnia or the battle scenes. It was a nice attempt though.

Does anyone know how many books were made into movies by BBC? I know it goes up to the Silver Chair; did they ever make the other three?

Hello !
Please tell me where I can find this Narnia old animation.
I am looking for since 3 month and it is not easy to find it from France.
Thank you very much for you reply at sane.fichet@wanadoo.fr.

On following the book I think the BBC was better...if only they could've had the accuracy of BBC and the Visualls of the new one.....(dont kill me for saying something bad about the movie please..) I have one of my posts in my xanga all about that....

hehehe i can just remember how bad the fight scene in the BBC version was, it was like 10 on 10 and it was in a little valley or shallow creek bed. ahahaa so funny :)
