so lately i have been taping on the DVR some miniseries movies A.D. The Bible Continues & i also recorded the The Dovekeepers, i was wondering what did everyone think of The DoveKeepers? i wasn't too impressed with part 1 because of the one thing issue in it but the storyline was preety good, i didn't get the chance to record part 2, i taped the first installment of A.D. The Bible Continues last Sunday did anyone get the chance to see the first installment? what did everyone think of the first installment? i thought it was preety good i will be watching the 2nd installment tonight :)

My opinion on these two things is best kept in my brain, especially A.D.

however, I will say that Dovekeepers was disappointing because of its sexual content and rather secular intonations of 'Adonai'. I guess Jewish people didn't have morals back then anymore than we do now? Just goes to reinforce that saying the name of God, and praying to Him doesn't make you a Christian anymore than sitting in a garage makes you into a car. It was disappointing. I never even finished part 1. It was also very, very, boring and dry.

i heard good things about AD but i have not seen it -- my husband is not interested, and i rarely watch anything except what we watch together; only downton abbey and occasionally a movie. i fear i would never get through an entire mini-series that he didn't want to see. i hope it is really powerful and exciting! let me know what you think.

i never heard of dovekeepers. what is it?

yeach i agree with you avaris, saw 2nd part of A.D.

yeach i agree with you avaris the DoveKeepers was very disapointing i didn't very much care for it because of the one thing issue, inkspot if you have an on demand or a digtial devise The DoveKeepers might be on demand i don't know if it's really worth seeing though :( i just saw the 2nd installment of A.D. last night i was very impressed by it, that's also on demand if anybody has a streaming devise

To be honest, ink, I'm really not even sure what the plot of the series was. Except for everyone to sleep with other women's husbands. it followed Jewish history, I think either at or before 70 A.D. (when Jerusalem fell to the Romans as prophesied by Jesus). From what I gathered, the story eventually centered around Masada and what happened, but as I'm rusty on Middle-eastern history, I can't tell you what the other 2 parts were about.

Oh, OK, the Masada story I know -- so it must have been the story of the Macabees. I didn't know that was such a racy story! :)

Haven't' seen it yet. But, I will say, I do find it odd both in A.D., as it was in The Bible mini-series that they go to great lengths to portray First Century Jerusalem (and the Jewish race) as a cultural diverse group of people like
21st Century United States of America. Yes you had Simon of Cyrene, and Angels are another thing...I mean they have no physical human appearance and could appear purple or green for all they like, but for the most part, I felt that the Jewish people should look like well, "olive skinned middle-easterners".

It's almost like they are trying to "over-correct" for the very white casts in Noah and Exodus.

i never thought about the diverse issue

i never thought about the diverse issue in A.D. but yeach it was very intresting to see a cast of differnt people in the mini series, i also thought it wad kind of differnt how they did the angels but i thought that A.D. stayed true to scripture, i'm looking forward to seeing the 3rd installment on Sunday night & if anyone is intrested it is on streaming devises :)

Dovekeepers had a similar issue. Every person cast was pretty much white (or at least looked it), with the minor exception of Cote de Pablo and several others. I mean, how many red-headed pale skinned women existed in Jerusalem in 60 a.d.? Really? You can thank political correctness for 'diversity'. Don't bother being accurate; just appeal to the PC crowd.

i will be watching the 3rd part of A.D. on NBC tonight

i will be watching the 3rd installment of A.D. tonight on NBC :) it should be very intresting

They did an A.D. series back in the late 1970's that wasn't very good. It was a follow up to the Jesus of Nazareth series. They also did Peter and Paul in 1981 staring Anthony Hopkins which was better.

i thought it was intresting

well i watched the 3rd installment of A.D. The Bible Continues last night it was very intresting how they did the Holy Spirit coming down at Pentecost on the early church the only thing that kind of intrested me because this is not in scripture but they had the apostle Peter have a daughter in the series, it wasn't in scripture either where Pliate was almost killed so it was kind of intresting but i did like how they did the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, if anyone has on demand or a streaming devise the 3rd installment might be availible

Cool. One of my clients, Dr. David Jeremiah, has a special part of his website devoted to the miniseries. He is actually preaching a 12-week series that corresponds to each episode of the miniseries. And the producers, Downey and Burnett, asked him to write a book about the "Scripture behind the story," which you can also check out on the website. here is the link.
