I Love Sherlock holmes, I almost read all Sherlock Holmes' books... He's really cool. He always solve an outstanding cases. My Favourite case is The dancing man, it's really cool. I also like The valley of fear.
And what do you think? Do you like Sherlock? What's your Favourite case?

I love Sherlock Holmes. Especially his assertion that "After one has eliminated all other possibilities, what remains, however unlikely, must be the truth."

I particularly loved the late Jeremy Britt in the role in the series he did for Granada Television. Second to him of course is the venerable Basil Rathbone.

It's hard to say what my favorite story is. Therefore I won't! :D

It's been a while since I ran through the collection, but I like Sherlock as well. I can't remember a favorite story, but Conan Doyle was a wonderful writer.

One thing interesting I find about Conan Doyle: his most memorable literary hero was Holmes, supposedly a being of powerful intellect and pure logic, who was clearly the type of man Doyle admired. Yet later in his life, he departed from devotion to pure logic as the pinnacle of human achievement, and began to search for any evidence of a spirit world. He searched all over, and diligently investigated claims of supernatural sightings, even to the point of claiming to have photographed fairies in his yard. It seems that intellect alone proved somewhat of a sparse diet for his imagination.

Prince, no, he didn't photograph fairies in his back yard. A couple of sisters faked such photographs by cutting out artwork and photographing it in real settings. The photos fooled Doyle, and when it came out later that the photos were fake that really left him flat.

Yes, he fell head over heels in love with the spiritualist movement because people could show double exposure "spirit photos" and physical evidence in seyances. Problem is, this was faked by well-meaning adherents that wanted to overcome skepticism by the public.

Go figure it.

Oh - thanks for the correction. I knew there was something about Doyle and fairies in his backyard, but I should have done better research.

It was interesting to see the upsurge of spiritualism in European culture about that time. I can't help but wonder how much of it might have had to do with European culture, especially the educated classes, turning their back on orthodox Christianity. Something only God knows for sure, of course.

I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. I have nearly every one of the books, not just Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's but ones written by many other people as well. I also have the entire Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce collection of Sherlock Holmes films done back in the 40s. I also have all the videos of the quinessential Sherlock Holmes, Jeremy Brett. I also have some other Sherlock Holmes films done by others, but none can hold a candle to Jeremy Brett.

I love Sherlock Holmes! My grandma got me into it! I only watch the TV show, but hey, at lest I'm alone in the world of Sherlock Holmes!!!!! :D

I enjoied what I read of Sherlock. My brother has a huge book of many (if not all) of the Sherlock stories in it. I liked A Study in Scarlet except that it was so sad. And I really like the movies with Basil Rathbone, Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon is my favorite! (I really liked the alphabet substitution code! I even made up my own!)

ES and PotW, that's really interesting! I didn't know anything about Conan Doyle's life. (it's kind of sad as well)

I love Sherlock Holmes other than Narnia its my favorite book series. If no one noticed, I have a Quote from the Hound of the Baskervilles in my sig.
