My parents are, and I can speak both languages fluently, and I can also speak a bit of Spanish, and Polish (not hard to understand if you know both Russian and Ukrainian. Some of the words are similar, so you can catch the nub and gist of what they're saying. Of course, it's harder in speaking than in writing.) And obviously, I'm fluent in English. I also used to know some German. Now, the only thing I can remember is Guten Tag, lol.

So, anyone here speak Russian or Ukrainian?

yeah, I'm from Poland too and my parents had russian in school too ;-)
But there are words that everyone in Poland knows :p
Zdrastwuj, malczik!
Spasiba!
Da swidanja!
Da, niet!
Adin, dwa, tri... ;-D

But i can't write them in russian ;-P

My aunt and uncle lived in the Ukraine for several years on business. I don't know how much of the language they know, though. Probably quite a bit, because that's just the way they are. When they lived in Norway they spoke Norwegian.

I was born in Belarus ( literally means white russia) my moms from russia and my dad from kazakhstan so i kno russian and Belorussian but Ukrainian belorussian and russian are pretty much the same.

Wow! No one actually from Russia or Ukraine. I'm surprised. Usually, places are swarming with them for some reason. A lot of people from Poland tho, huh?

i was born in Russia. I'm 10, and I moved here when I was an infant. I became an American citizen not long ago.
i have to hide it though. my mother allows me to tell it to people now.
my dad, you ask? divorced a month ago. :(

i came here when i was 3 months old. we left rly fast cuz my familys jewish and there is lots of discrimination against jews in russia.

....what did u have to hide? that u were an american citizen?

well yes but i dunno how to explain it like the same for ukraine ud still be considered russian cuz theyre russian countries.

Uh, no I wouldn't. They're not Russian countries. They are their own, individual nations. We're not part of the Soviet Union anymore. And, sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm 100% Ukrainian, not a drop of Russian.

Oh, and, Ukraine is older than Russia. Much older.

watever. exclude ukraine.

Belarus is its own country has its own language thats similar and very much the same as russian. I consider it a Russian country, i mean it does mean white russia.
