bbc narnia

What bothered me most...the hand-drawn animation on frosted cels. Next to that the unfortunate feeling that Aslan would speak an entire sentence only opening his mouth once. And the beavers...oh the beavers! Arrugh.

All this aside, they obviously tried hard. Clearly they wanted to do the stories as much justice as they could.

My favorite "old" version is the animated one done by CTW/Melendez. It's not only extremely reverent but the resurrection sequence was the best I've seen. Ever. Period. You can see the visuals...but take the time to download the MP3 of the soundtrack and play it as you look at the pictures it is WELL WORTH SEEING and my provoke you to buy the DVD.

You can see it at http://royalmagi.org/animation/

You NEED to hear the track. It has the emotional tone of someone who is not afraid of offending non-religious people. It makes a real statement, just as Lewis made a real statement. Note this is low bitrate to save storage space.

Ok..thanks for hurting my feelings. Why put down the BBC's? Why? Its narnia..its the same as the new LWW movie, why be mean to it? It was made a while ago, and I think the director and people who made it should be given appreciaton, for they spent time and did the best they could. They did not have many high-tech stuff as we do today to make them look real, like the animals and such.

So before you post a thread like this, saying that a movie you dislike "sucks" think about anyone else who might love those movies as I do, and you've just really angered me.

Even if this thread was made a while ago, I just had to put this in. I do wish though they made a Last Battle.

edit:
btw, this was put in the wrong place.

I agree with TrueNarnian 100%. By the way, there's a whole section of TDL for talking about the BBC movies...and this probably belongs there in the "I've seen the BBC series..." thread.

I liked those movies because they did the best with what they had over 20 years ago and they do a decent job sticking to the books. They weren't the greatest ever, but there's no need to be that harsh on them...if you don't like them, don't watch them...but I think that they have some really good points to them. Anyway, go check out the section of the forum dedicated to this series.

(ES or any other mods that check this...can you move this there?)
