Best book by an Inkling?

Thank you, Prince for this wonderful topic starter!
In the 1960's, Roger Lancelyn Green (1918-1987) edited one of my very, very, very, Very Favorite collections of faery: he succeeded in getting all three volumes of Mary de Morgan's (authored) fairy stories published in a single volume with original illustrations. Mary de Morgan was a beloved storyteller, whom Rudyard Kipling and his sister nicknamed "Mrs. Oakchest" because of the wondrous treasury of beautiful, poignant yarns and tales that flowed from her imagination.

If you are ever fortunate enough to get hold of The Complete Fairy Tales of Mary de Morgan, do read "The Heart of Princess Joan" or "The Hair Tree" -- two of my favorites, but there are many many others which are unforgettable... "The Wanderings of Arasmon," "The Gipsy's Cup," "The Necklace of Princess Fiorimonde," and more! And then you will owe a debt of gratitude to Roger Lancelyn Green for making them accessible once more.
