Proving that not even Mickey is immune to the downturn, Disney has decided against coproducing and distributing the third film in the Chronicles of Narnia series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And that means Walden Media, the production company behind the C.S. Lewis adaptations, will have to find a new partner for the big-screen franchise to continue.

Walden has to find another partner. That's all there is to it.

Agreed. I mean, the BBC didn't even finish the series, so the Focus on the Family radio dramas are all we've got for the latter half. I want to see TLB in all its big-screen glory.

And why are Anna and William still under contract (unless it's just for HHB)? They're not in VDT.

hmmm then I guess they will try to finish the series then, if Will and Anna are there...cuz Will wont be HHB...which means he's be TLB...oh boy!:D

Anna is probably still under contract for HHB and Will for TLB. At the end of the commentary on PC Will says something like "You may see me again in The Last Battle" or something like that.

Will and anna may still be under contract because the screenwriters and Mr. Apted may have decided to put them in the first part of VDT showing how and why Lucy and Ed were sent to stay with Eustace and his parents. *shrugs* I do hope that Fox goes through with it, but the quality of the film will lie in the hands of those holding the pen to the script. It's not the distributors who ruin or make a film. It's the actors, the music, the makers, etc.. who make a film what it is. If Fox drops it, maybe they could go with new Line.

Yeah. Was Disney the one who chose the writers to write the script for PC?

If they were, then this could be our chance to get a new company that will hopefully not disfigure the characters as Disney did with Caspian, Susan, and Peter, and who will try to go by the book as much as possible, and only venture away when it is necessary.

@Aravis Kenobi
Maybe, but it would probably have to do really well for New Line to stay on. They dropped His Dark Materials because they didn't think The Golden Compass made enough.

I doubt Disney chose the writers. Pete Jackson chose his own writers, so I believe that the writers are dependent of the director. I imagine either Apted will keep the original script writers or will choose ones he feels will do a better job.

and New Line took a great risk signing on with Peter Jackson to distribute LOTR. Look what happened. ;) Same with 20th Century Fox signing on with George Lucas to distribute. Nobody could have predicted that A New Hope would so well and change the pop culture as much as it did\has.

This doesn't look good. I have feared this would happpen for a while. It isn't just because of PC, which made good money in the end. This is payback time toward the Christians by the Film industry. Which is sad becasue family films do well during bad economies.:(
