Dlf

Do you think in the movie that the four Pevensie children will still call Trumpkin the DLF (Dear Little Friend.)?

Because, I've listened to the Prince Caspian Audio Book CD, and they never once called him the DLF.

I dont think it would matter too much if they or not. its just...I guess..not really important. and maybe just calling him Trumpkin throughout the whole movie would be better.

Well it all depends on how they have Trumpkin enter the movie. If he is kind of agitated and stuff, like he is. Or if he seems more amazed that they are in fact in Narnia, (again, he is) then it could not be used so much. Would be fun if they did, but its kind of hard to explain DLF without parenthesis, but of course you could just have the brothers whisper it or something.

I agree that it adds to the interaction with the Pevensies. It seemed to start after Trumpkin called the kids "dear little friends." Edmund takes it rather personally and hounds him about it thereafter. It would be an interesting side joke. It kind of brings out the kids angst after being adults in that world before and then not being believed on their return. It would also serve as a reminder to Trumpkin to not undersestimate them...kids or not.

Hopefully they'll keep it in, unless they want to be overly politically correct.
I think it adds character to the story...I can just imagine Skandar towering over a little person and having the little person call him little. It would be kind of funny.

I wonder how tall Skandar is now? I'm sure he's grown a lot since the movie came out. He would have towered over the dwarfs then...but now...it makes me wonder what that scene would look like.

Ya they will call him DFL for sure, knowing Andrew he would want that in there. I think Kearn who played Ginibrik should play TRumpkin

He did a great job in LWW, but he has a very distinct voice and accent. He'd be great as Trumpkin, but I doubt that Andrew will have him do both rolls. It would be too obvious whenever he spoke I think. It will be interesting to see who he comes up with. The guy who played Trumpkin in the BBC version did a great job. Hopefully the one they get for this movie will do as well.

I honestly disagree, I don't think he would be a great Trumpkin. I want someone with a softer face to do that. Thats just not how I see Trumpkin at all.

I was hoping it'd make it into the film....but like TN, the Radio Theatre version (Focus on the Family version) DLF isn't mentioned, but "Dear Little Friend" was.

That's interesting. I would really like to see them use it. I don't think they will end up using it because the uppity-ups will probably want to remain politically correct and refrain from *in a mock politically correct voice*, "Demeaning the stature and tainting the true nature of those who happen to not have the advantage of a tall height." Not to make fun of them, but the whole PC (political correctness!) stuff is kind of dumb. How they would deliver it and then possibly keep it in the movie's dialogue will be interesting though.

General Oreius is right that political correctness is dumb. Be that as it may, I'm glad they _didn't_ take the approach in filming LWW of using special effects to make regular-size actors _look_ smaller. It's a good thing to give _actual_ dwarfs the chance to play dwarfs. There should be no difficulty finding new actors who can perform well as Trumpkin and Nikabrik.

I think they will use DLF, they would have a hard time avoiding it with the way Lewis used it in the book, besides if anything they might overuse it, because when I first read the book I tended to put that word in everytime trumpkin was mentioned, and Andrew Adamson has said that he visualizes Narnia as a director the way he saw the books as a kid, I am pretty sure he did about the same thing that I did when he was younger.
As for using Kiran as Trumpkin, I do not think that they should, it would be hard for me to think of Trumpkin without thinking of Ginnabrik if they use Kiran, I think they should use a new actor.

I agree there should be no shortage of dwarfs to fill parts. I just hope that PC in the movie continues to stand for Prince Caspian and not Politically Correct. It bugs me that society has to walk on egg shells and people are so sensitive about everything. It's not ok to be mean or anything..but I think society has gone overboard in some ways.

I hope that they'll keep closer to the book than the did in LWW. The first movie was good...but I'd like to see it stay closer to the book. I'd like to see them use DLF.
