End of VotDT/end of TLB

At the end of Voyage, Aslan tells Lucy and Edmund that they both must learn more about Himself in their own world. But at the end of TLB, they return to watch the end of Narnia and go into a world they recognize as Narnia reborn and more alive.

So did they truly learn more about their Earthly religion or did they truly pick Aslan as their preferred deity? They were, after all, Narnians as well. Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen of Narnia. And Aslan had done more to help them.

Well, since Aslan is Jesus there is no difference in deity there, and they end up in the New Narnia we must assume that they did. The reason, I believe, that they were not in the earthly heaven where their parents were, is because of Aslan's proclamation in the LWW - "Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia." So their true citizenship was that of Narnia.

It's all one, anyway. The true England was visible from the true Narnia, and getting to it - or anywhere else - was only a matter of time, which would be of little consequence to anyone with an eternity to look forward to and the ability to run as fast as they liked, as long as they liked, without getting tired.

What amuses me to dwell on is that Lewis's vision of what the Eternal Kingdom might be like is sure to prove to have fallen utterly short of the wonderful reality. :)

Aslan and Jesus are actually the same Person, so it makes little difference which name they prefer to call him by. But it's clear in TLB that Lucy at least has realised Aslan's Name in our world; the comment about a stable once holding something bigger than our entire world obviously refers to the stable in Bethlehem

Remember the three Pevensies died in England so they actually did find their way to Aslan's country through their own world
