Is it ever indicated where Experiment House is located in England? I am doing a fanfic and I would like either a location or a best guess as to where EH is.

Thanks

Thanks Olorin. I had forgotten about that. Oh well, I guess i can just choose from all of the moorlands of England.

There was never any place given in the books. Lewis probably has some idea where it would be, buthe never said as far as i know.

"Moorlands" would probably imply Yorkshire - a major train line connects that part of England with London, though it's by no means a short trip (by UK standards). There are other stretches of moorland in England though.

After looking it up, I decided that the best place would probably be in Yorkshire. I've had a fascination with that place after reading "The Secret Garden" many years ago.

Thanks.

It might not have been near Cambridge - remember, it was a boarding school, so it might have been quite a distance by train.

Olorin, I acknowledge that it was not in direct proximity to London proper. But that doesn't mean that it was not nearer to London than any other large town.

It's pretty clear if you know anything about the time and culture. Lewis didn't have to say it was a boarding school - it's obvious from context.

I never imagined it being anything but a boarding school. Why else would Jill have been behind the gym crying with no one around? Even during recess, I would imagine the teachers would want to know where the students were. Also, talk of escaping through the back gate would not be possible if one was only in the school for the day and then went home. The bullies also had plenty of time to "attend to" their victims outside of classes.

PotW said it right: it's obvious from context.
