I am really hoping for an extended version DVD. Although what Aravias of Archenland has said could very well be, I have reasons to believe that we will get to see some cool stuff on an extended DVD in November. Below I list references (and approximately where they can be found) to scenes that we might be looking forward to on the extended version.
Disc 1, Director and Children’s Commentary.
Andrew Adamson mentions the extended edition. Georgie Henley mentions the fish scene (looking through the ice at a frozen fish…). The dance scene is mentioned. A reference is made to Lucy presenting Mr. Tomnus with his golden horn tips.
Disc 1, Director’s Commentary.
Andrew mentions an extended scene of the wolf attack at Aslan’s camp, showing more action with the girls running away and more of a dialogue between Peter and the wolf.
Disc 2, Evolution of an Epic, Cinematic Storytellers, Creatures.
“Your Majesty, the humans are in Aslan’s Camp at the Stone Table.”
Footage of the White Witch with her general in her camp.
Disc 2, Evolution of an Epic, Cinematic Storytellers, Costumes.
Dance scene, reference and footage. “Anna took off around the room dancing…we wanted to capture some of that in the dance scene.”
Then there is the acclaimed phoenix scene when the bird sets bad guys on fire. I have not seen the mention to this scene so if any one could clue me in it would be great.
All in all I think it could go either way. We have quite a few hints, so to speak, as to what an extended DVD could be, but to make it a worthwhile extended version they will have to have more than even that which is hinted at. If there was an average of three minutes per scene that is hinted at I think that gives us something like 20 to 21 minutes of extra footage which, in my opinion, is not that much.
However, here is the most solid argument for the existence of an extended version DVD in the making. That is that the 2 disc DVD set, in all of its immense special features, does not have one single solitary deleted scene. Now that is just to much of a hint in and of itself to take lightly.
I’m hoping, and as of yet, still believing in an extended version of the DVD.
