Extended Edition?!?!

So on the LWW DVD, Andrew Adamson mentioned something about an Extended Edition. Anybody heard anything about it? I would love to have something like the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition. You know hours of deleted scenes in the film! That would be great! :D

Considering the fact that not many scenes were left out (there are only three that I know of), it's a good possibilty that there won't be an extended edtion. I think we're all holding our breaths to see what happens.

I have not heard anything about an extended edition DVD. I would have to agree with Aravis of Archenland, that if there are not many sceans that were taken out then there might not be an exteded edition.

I think she means the main site.

Oooh...November? Yeah, things COULD change. Just like how some people are starting to think Prince Caspian might come out in 2008.

Well, it's probably going to be 2008 before PC comes out because of the technical difficulties. I'm not really holding my breath for an extended edition.

When did he say that? Because I really doubt that there will be an extended edition. What do we know was cut? More stuff with the battle and the phoenix, the coronation dance, and some stuff with a fish.

It's not like The Fellowship of the Ring where the first cut including all the scenes was 4 1/2 hours long.

I agree. I think if they were going to release an Extended Edition they would have released the EE instead of the 2 disc edition that is out now. They did not so my guess is that there will not be one.

I am really hoping for an extended version DVD. Although what Aravias of Archenland has said could very well be, I have reasons to believe that we will get to see some cool stuff on an extended DVD in November. Below I list references (and approximately where they can be found) to scenes that we might be looking forward to on the extended version.

Disc 1, Director and Children’s Commentary.
Andrew Adamson mentions the extended edition. Georgie Henley mentions the fish scene (looking through the ice at a frozen fish…). The dance scene is mentioned. A reference is made to Lucy presenting Mr. Tomnus with his golden horn tips.

Disc 1, Director’s Commentary.
Andrew mentions an extended scene of the wolf attack at Aslan’s camp, showing more action with the girls running away and more of a dialogue between Peter and the wolf.

Disc 2, Evolution of an Epic, Cinematic Storytellers, Creatures.
“Your Majesty, the humans are in Aslan’s Camp at the Stone Table.”
Footage of the White Witch with her general in her camp.

Disc 2, Evolution of an Epic, Cinematic Storytellers, Costumes.
Dance scene, reference and footage. “Anna took off around the room dancing…we wanted to capture some of that in the dance scene.”

Then there is the acclaimed phoenix scene when the bird sets bad guys on fire. I have not seen the mention to this scene so if any one could clue me in it would be great.

All in all I think it could go either way. We have quite a few hints, so to speak, as to what an extended DVD could be, but to make it a worthwhile extended version they will have to have more than even that which is hinted at. If there was an average of three minutes per scene that is hinted at I think that gives us something like 20 to 21 minutes of extra footage which, in my opinion, is not that much.

However, here is the most solid argument for the existence of an extended version DVD in the making. That is that the 2 disc DVD set, in all of its immense special features, does not have one single solitary deleted scene. Now that is just to much of a hint in and of itself to take lightly.

I’m hoping, and as of yet, still believing in an extended version of the DVD.

I hope they show where Aslan was playing with the girls after his resurrection.
I was suprised not to see it in the movie.
I also know something else that could be on the EE.
If you look at the movie poster it shows Peter, Lucy, and Susan climbing up a mountain.

It seems like alot of the stuff that was cut out was cut out for a good reason. Eg. Andrew Adamson says that the dialoge between Peter and the wolf was cut out because he wanted Peter's confidence to grow more slowly. Everything else was slightly trivial. As Rhindon has previously said, it's not like the Lord of the Rings which was originally four and a half hours long.

I had noticed that. Wonder where that scene should have been?

Yea- I was wondering why they would put that on the poster and movie soundtrack if it was cut from the movie....

I really wish they would come out with one because I am dying to see the coronation dance scene. But, who knows?

Longer version

In the cinema the movie was to short.
In september 2005 the information about the length of the movie was that it would be two hours 51 minutes long.
I wish they include a longer scene with Father Christmas when the beavers get their gifts and more with creatures turn into by the witch before the fox shows up and extra scene when the girls sits on Aslan´s back and is travelling towards the witch´s castle.
There are rumours that they will include more scenes with Aslan,a longer version of the scene where the creatures are turn back to life in the witch´s castle and more characterization of the characters.
May be they will include other scenes from the book which was not in the movie.

Movie length

On dvd the BBC version is 2 hours 49 minutes.
The information that the movie was going to 2 hours 51 minutes came from Andrew Adamson ,he was not talking about the BBC version.
Some rumours last autuum said that LWW was going to be at least three hours long .

I have the movie companion, and there they say that they planned everything so good that the kids didn´t have to work for hours for things that wouldn´t make it for the film. It also said that the dancing at the coronation scene was the only scene that was deleted.

I think that if they are going to make an extended edition they would have to film some new things they can put in.

The main reason why there were no "Deleted Scenes" was because they didn't delete any.
As part of the PreProduction, Andrew created a PreVis for the whole film, and then edited it so that it was the correct length for the DVD.

Then he filmed it.

Therefore, if he was to create an Extended Edition, it wouldn't be stuff that they filmed for LWW, and then didn't use it (although they may use the dance scene at the corronation) it would be made up of stuff from Andrew's PreVis, that was removed, and they would Film it at a later date (e.g. between when LWW came out, and before the EE comes out)

Before you say "They aren't going to film more stuff now", They did for LOTR, so they may for LWW.

This isn't a "They will definately film an EE" it's a "It's quite likely that they will".
