Fleur Delacour

In HP4, the Bulgarian Quidditch Team has Veela mascots. Fleur is part-Veela (her "grandmuzzer" is a veela). But Fleur, and most likley her grandmother, too, are French. Fleur's mother is French, but we don't know about her father.
Why is the Bulgarian mascot Veela????????

Perhaps most Veela's come from Bulgaria, but some, probably more high class ones live in France. Or perhaps Fluer's "grandmuzzer" came from Bulgaria to France, and Fluer's mother and Fluer got thier accents from Fluer's Father and Grandfather, both Frenchmen most likely.

It's a theory anyway. :D

I think Fleur is the coolest, because of her actions in book 6. She shows all those Weaselys who were looking down on her. Hurray for Fleur. And I agree with Fawkes, just somewhere in her ancestry is a Veela; she's not necessarily half or one-quarter Veela.

It could be because "Veela" come from around Bulgaria and surrounding countries. See, in folklore, "Vila" or "Wila" are Slavic water nymphs, extremely beautiful and what not. I think that's where Rowling got the name "Veela" from, so this might be why Durmstrang's mascot is a Veela.
