How Can Jadis Be Alive?

There's another thread around here somewhere that records how Tilda Swinton says how surprised she is that her image appears in a trailer when, in fact, she's not in this movie at all. I don't know if she shot a scene that ended up on the cutting room floor, or if they just used some footage from Lion.

The couple-second image in the trailer gives the implication that what's going on is some kind of a summoning up of her spirit, which could be a corruption (and possibly a very bad corruption) of the point in Caspian where Nikabrik brings the witch and werewolf and attempts to get Caspian to agree to use black magic to summon the Witch back to defeat Miraz. That suggestion barely gets past the talking stage when a fight breaks out, so the summoning never gets off the ground. If the movie has a part where the summoning actually happens, it wouldn't be being true to the story there - especially if the girls are there when it happens.

That's interesting. Thanks for the info. I thought it would be her physical body. Maybe it is a scene from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. If she said she wasn't in the movie that makes it deceiving in trailers, but I guess it's a good thing. I don't want her to come back, even though it didn't happen in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

Jadis is certainly NOT alive during PC. The thing you see in the trailer is probably, as PotW said, extra footage.

:)

Hmm

The weird thing is - if they have it in the PC movie that Caspian actually accepts the idea to get Jadis to help them - that really does a number on his character. He's not like that in the books at all.

I agree that the image of the White Witch is probably used like an apparition or even a flashback in the film. The hag, werewolf and Nickabrick want to bring her back so perhaps they used the image to show that the spell to reawaken her was beginning to work only to be foiled by Caspian and the others. But I guess we shall see.

I've always thought from reading the books and watching the old BBC movie that they were trying to summon her spirit back to Narnia. The one of the dwarfs thinking it a good idea.

Keep in mind that Caspian rejected the idea - with his sword.

Jadis Alive

Perhaps the image of her is computer animated or something. Since Tilda isn't actually in the movie but we see her, she could be computer animated.
