How did Trumpkin know about the horn?

We went to see PC for the fourth or fifth time yesterday and I stumbled upon something that hadn't hit me before: HOw did Trumpkin know that Caspian blew a horn and which horn it was and what it was supposed to do?
Since the movie differs a lot from the book where the whole point of the children meeting with Trumpkin was the horn-blowing business.

Trumpkin attacked the Telmarines and ordered Nikabrik to take care of Caspian. Since Trumpkin was captured, bound and gagged by the Telmarines it seems unlikely that he had time to go back to Nikabrik and Caspian to hear from them what had just transpired. Trufflehunter also acts as if they'd had time to discuss with Trumpkin what to do with Caspian which seems unlikely to me,.

What do you think?
 
well, when Caspian blows the horn, of course, it doesn't make a noise very low, remember the horn is supposed to call great help, of course you have to hear it well, even if you're far, and Trumpkin wasn't that far from Caspian, so I suppose he obviously heard it. :D
 
well, we know the soldiers were there, and he could call more, but trumpkin was actually helping him. How he knew which horn it was, I suppose he knew old narnians legens, badger does, the centaurs do, so why wouldn't trumpkin ?? and I don't remember in the movie, he doesn't tell the Pevensies Caspian called them, does he ?? :confused:
 
He says: "maybe the horn's magic did work after all" (translated from german). So he MUST have known what horn it was and what magic was attached to it. The latter he surely would now being an old narnian but he sounds as if the blowing of the horn was a planned thing to specifically bring the Pevensies back to Narnia - as it is in the book, of course, but by no means in the movie.
 
well, maybe he heard the horn, and we know he saw it, because caspian lets it fall, when he falls from his horse, so Trumpkin must know what horn it is, and when he heard it, he supposes the Pevensis will come back, and when he sees them, he has his supposition confirmed
