The title basically says it all, how do u think VOtDT will turn out without disney and a new director?

I think it will turn out like PC, that it will offend purists and thrill audiances with lavish battles reminiscent of LOTR.

As I am heraing that the filmmakers have returned to the basics that propelled LWW to such a grand movie, I think VotDT will be very successful, making significantly more than PC ($550-$600 million).

Purists will still find something to complain about because that's just what we do :p

Gotta love the purists. ;)

I myself am a half purist, I expect film adaptions to stay true to the heart of the story, I leave room for embellishments and subtle changes. For I understand that what is written cannot always be adapted and that not everyone has the same perception when reading a masterpiece such as LOTR or CON. The director, screenwriter, and producer will never see written scenes, landscapes, characters or symbols exactly the way I or you do.

To expect such is folly, for even if they could reproduce exactly what we imagined, itwould demenish/undermine the work itself, there would no longer be a reason to reread the tales, no need to envision the world yourself. I can not bare to think of such a tragedy, so in stead I look foward to the director's interpretation and hope they remain true to the heart and soul of the books.

I'm afraid ABC isn't family friendly anymore, in fact their latest rostrum of shows are in my opinion atrocious and lacking in any morale value. Which quite frankly is sad since a reasonably descent show once aired on ABC, I'm speaking of course of 7th Heaven. :)

That's me, too, Sir Godfrey. Changes are good if they stay to the spirit of the story and characters. Even full purists do not expect exact word-for-word, scene-for-scene adaptations.

yeah, me too. like LWW wasn't EXACTLY like the book but it followed it enough to keep the story the same, PC not so much.

I think(or hope) VODT will turn out as good as LWW did in following the book... and money wise as well, because from what I hear if Voyage flunks then the whole series flunks with it.
still I have high hopes for this movie, very, very high hopes.:) (so moviemakers don't betray my hope and trust!!)

I think it is going to be good. How can they miss with a high seas adventure and so many exciting islands to visit? Everything I have heard from anyone who has seen some footage has been very promising. I have high hopes!

I'm actually starting to feel quite optmistic about VODT. I look foward to a Narnian Pirates of the Carribean. XD
