A wonderful book

I'm just about to finish reading the Voyage of Dawn Treader. And I muist say after reading the previous books, it just keeps getting better. I love the sea and ship element in the Dawn Treader, and I love how they explore many islands and have many strange adventures on the way to the Worlds's end. I must admit that next to the Horse and His Boy and Prince Caspain, this is so far my favorite. For Narnia and Aslan!

I enjoy this book also. But it probably shouldn't be considered a Narnian Chronicle, more like another Moby Dick.

oh my gosh i cant belive you just said that no way TSC or TLB are the most boring

PS: i luv POTC aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I thought it was the most boring of the seven. A sea-faring adventure, except for POTC, is boring.

I agree i think it is in no way boring. Infact I find it to be quiet the opposite.

No way is VDT boring. It is one of the books which is the most packed with excellent spiritual/Christian symbols, plus it is full of Lewis' really grand imagination! Just the idea of an island where dreams come true -- and it turns out to be hideous, because it means the real dreams you have at night, confused, silly or even horrifying, go on non-stop. Yikes! The whole adventure of Eustace and the dragon is nearly everyone's favorite symbol of how Christ redeems, stripping away our pretense and pride, in a process which is sometimes even painful, but in the end restores us to who we truly are. The introduction of the stars, the fallen stars, as people with jobs to do, that was certainly a brilliant stroke --

Ach, the book is packed with great adventure and wonderful lessons about the adventure of life in Christ. You can't believe it's boring!
:)

Prehapes ne of the best of the books I've read. I really enjoyed the voyage and Reepchieep. I also loved the chapter where Eustace turns into a dragon :D . What a wonderful edition in the chronicles of Narnia.

I love it, too. Mainly because two of my favorite charcters are in it. This is definately Caspian's best book! In PC he's kind of young, and he's just getting used to the whole "king" thing. And in SC he's way too old! But in VotDT He's at his prime! And so awesome! And Reepicheep, too. In PC Reepicheep only had a small part. But in VotDT he has a much bigger role.

VODT is my favorite book in the Chronicles. The last 3 pages are the best in my opinion. I love it for the reasons Inkspot mentions as well. It's an exciting book. Adventure, pirates, enchantments, danger, restoration...I love it! The depth of the Pevensie characters is drawn out a little more as well...especially for Ed. Love it.

I absolutely adore this book. I think that Eustace is a great introduction to the series, I loved the balance between dark and light in this story. The fact that the Prince Caspian fell in love too. And Reepicheep is just a gorgeous mouse.

It also marks the point where we see just how much Edmund has matured because of his experiences in Narnia. We see him able to come to the aid of Eustice in a real spiritual way and get Eustice from only thinking of himself to seeing the consequences of itself, and to finally have a concern for other. This prepares Eustice for his adventure into Narnia with Jill.

When we go through difficult times it is God's (Aslan's) way of preparing us for the next challenge that will come our way. And we see that in all of the books.

The book had a distinct bittersweet aspect to it...a sort of joy and sadness mixed together. I just adored it out of all the Narnia books because of the great sense of ' Sinbad-like' voyage adventure in it...the ship, the sea monster, the islands, the end of the world, etc.

I Luv This Book!!

This is my favourite of the Narnia books. In fact, I think this is one of the loveliest children's books ever written. I love it when they sail through the many adventures and towards more and more light, until they reach Aslan. I cry every time I read the book, for example when they reach the water-lilies. Or is there a lovelier place depicted in literature than Ramandu's island? This is also the book where Aslan appears the most often, first to them individually during the journey, until they all see him in the end. There are many nice touches throughout the book, starting in the very first chapter when the children end up on the ship and even without knowing where the ship is going or what the adventure is about, Lucy is sure (at the end of the chapter) that it is going to be a lovely voyage. The way it is set up makes us, the readers, not doubt that this indeed is the case, and it sets the mood of the whole book. A book of light.
