If You Could Rule Narnia

I hope this thread will spark some interesting replies. But as the title says... if Aslan decided that you were the next king/queen of Cair Paravel... well... what would you do? What would your name... various titles... be?


Me, I'd be Queen Jessica The Knowledgable of Narnia, Lady Knight of the Stone Table, Empress of the Lone Islands, Lady of Cair Paravel, Dutchess of the Western Wood

I'd weild the sword and sheild against foes of Narnia, talk peace with the peoples of the Lone Islands, settle with the giants Ettinsmoor, and make peace with Archenland

I'd follow Aslan, and want others to do so as well, but I wouldn't force them, free choice and all that..

I'd hoped to find the real titles of those in Narnia, but we could make stuff up, I guess :)
 
I might be King Joseph the Contemplative. Unless Aslan chose to heal my arthritis, I don't think I'd feel up to fighting in the front lines of a battle with swords and bows.
 
I would be
King Cymro the Bold, Knight of the Order of the Lion, Emperor of the Vast Seas, and Conquerer of the Northern Marches.

I would see to the peace of my land and explore the vast seas and settle them. I would have great tournaments with Archenland and subdue the wild Northern marches. With Calormen there would be occasional war but sometimes peace!
 
I am known as Michael the Great, King of Narnia, Lord of Cair Paravel, and Emperor of the Lone Islands.

My name strikes fear, awe, and respect from the Calormenes and the lands further south where I am know as “The Barbarian King from the North”, even though I never go to war with them except in the defense of Narnia and in answer to all their provocations.
However, not all Calormenes want to be enemies of Narnia because many still remember that one of their own daughters, Aravis Tarkheena became a great Queen in Archenland and that through her line, Calormene noble blood has joined with Narnian blood in that great country.

The people from Telmar and the lands to the West seek alliances with Narnia.

The giants from Ettinsmoor have voted to join Narnia and Ettinsmoor will become a Province of Narnia just as soon as the majority of Narnians ratify the accord and we have proof from the giants that they will forever renounce the eating of any talking beasts.

The Giants from further north in Harfang destroyed the giant bridge because they feared the Narnian armies would attack and invade them. Obviously they don’t know that Narnia is really a peaceful land and we don’t go to war without justification.

All the islands to the East that were discovered by King Caspian the Tenth (sometimes known as Caspian the Seafarer) have become part of the Narnian Crown. Swanwhite Naval Station is a permanent base located in Avra, one of the three islands of The Lone Islands, in the port of Bernstead.
The naval route to Ramandu’s Island, the one followed by King Caspian is known as “The Reepicheep Corridor” in honor the great Narnian hero.

Aslan has not been seen in Narnia for many years now but we know that He is always looking out for his Land, and that if we are ever in great danger he will send us the helpers from beyond the world’s end to save Narnia. Who knows, maybe the Lion Himself will come. We just never know. After all, he is not a tame Lion.

Wow where to start? Let's see:

1. I would draft the first democratic constitution for Narnia in which all sentients be it human or talking beasts are equal under Aslan (God)!

2. I would try to bring Narnia into the 21st century or at least a preindustrial period as much as possible.

3. I would try to reason with the Calormen and others that constantly try to wage war, if that does not work actions that could range from embargos of goods to full scale war depending on the threat would be on the table.

4. I'd leave office quietfully and respectfully at the end of my apointed term.

I thought that they still had normal regular winters in Narnia and not a permanent summer! Oh well then we have to add to ask Aslan to restore the normal seasons would we not?:D

BTW: What exactly is not a good idea and why?:confused:

I'm intrigued about the industrial statements, and most of all the constitution. I'm assuming you are talking about a constitutional monarchy.

Good choice, I mean, I thought the rulers of Narnia, Archenland, Calormen, were in complete control...
 
Mr. Lewis could not bring himself to feel enthusiastic about democracy, because he had seen too much of that evil distortion of democracy which we commonly call "mob rule."

True which is why the kind of democracy I'm proposing would not be the typical and tragically failed populist democracy but a merit based one. Merit as in the candidates that can become elected leaders can only become such candidated based on their merits and not because of popularity.

It would not be one person but a pannel that decides that based on the merits of the individual candidates regardless of the political party they might represent. The idea would be that only candidates that truly have the best interests of the nation and it's people at heart would be chosen.

Now is this infallible? Off course not! No political system is either infallible or perfect. But it does make it harder for somebody with shady intentions,charisma and popularity to just roll over as say Hitler did in the 30's and much more recently Chavez did in Venezuela.
