It Has Been Great Fun

I've seen many hellos and good-byes during my time on the Dancing Lawn. Now as I struggle to frame in a few words my own leave taking, I find myself unexpectedly nostalgic and melancholy.

For months there have been only a couple of threads where I felt both motivated and appropriate penning a few words. The character as well as the volume of discussions has changed and I am no longer surrounded with familiar and comfortable landmarks. This is not an indictment or a complaint, it's merely an observation.

My entire literary output is now in non-fiction aimed at helping great youth grow into great adults. For those of you who don't know, I'm National Service Chairman of Trail Life USA, and "He of the Stripes" is involved right now in building a training experience called "EquipYouth" that will go out this summer across America.

It's not exactly like I'm dying or even going into lockup. I'm available at traillifeusa@att.net for any old friend that wants to chat or catch up or see how I am. It's the words "trail" and "life" and "usa" without spaces...don't let the repeating "L" confuse you...it is indeed two L's.

My characters Buck and Bramble were born here. I enjoyed the wait for new movies and loved seeing new photos and reading new rumors. Many of you have become lifelong friends.

I will check this thread for a few days in case anyone wants to pen me a brief note. I will miss it here, but much of what I miss can't be recaptured by simply logging back in.

Don't feel sorry for me. I'll be in my National Staffer's uniform directing workers and giving last minute pep talks to our fine teachers. The lake sparkles, the brook babbles, the sun shines and the wind caresses, and I shall enjoy life and seek to give back some of the joys it has given me.

God bless you all. I will always remember you fondly. And as Horace Beaverlee was fond of saying, "Till Later" for immortal friends can never truly stay separate.

Well, dear friends, Badgerly farewells. My horse is pawing impatiently and the wind beckons from the East. Away and anon....

Sir, I am a fan and always will be. Your stories about the escapades and adventures of Buck and Bramble will always be remembered. Your good works and kind words that I will always miss. You maybe leaving for now but you already left a big mark in our hearts. God bless you Sir John, and til later! :)

I wish you well, ES. I've always enjoyed your posts and comments and I'm sad to see you go. I hope you continue to have a good life outside of this place, and pop back once and a while.

This would be much sadder if I didn't keep in touch with you via other channels. But our time together here has been special, and I will always remember it fondly - not least because it served to introduce us! May God bless you in all your endeavors!

Aww, I'm sorry I'm too little too late to notice this. :( I had no idea about it. Well, good luck in your adventures I'll miss seeing you around. :)

In case anyone _hasn't_ noticed yet, EveningStar is _back_ on the forum!! He has not abandoned his righteous work with Trail Life, but his wife Lady Badger is helping him to straddle the obligations. Look around: the Great Badger is not just looking, he is _writing_ stuff again!

I am not only back, I spent an hour and twenty minutes recording the framework narration for an audio drama of "The Visitor" that will be posted here. It will bring back some of the wonder of the Narnia Fans Cast days.
