Is Jewel really an important symbol in the Last Battle? Because if you have noticed, most covers of the Last Battle has a unicorn in it, which I presume is Jewel. I just would like to find out.

...Hm. Im not sure. really never thought about it. Unless Unicorns do symbolize something special in fantasy and myths.

Well, Jewel is the only mythical-type creature to play a leading role on the side of good in the story; thus he might be said to personify NARNIA ITSELF. Also, unicorns are symbolic of purity and virginity; thus King Tirian, who never got to marry and have children, is appropriate company for Jewel.

I have thought many times about those Christians who will be in adolescence when Jesus returns. Unless procreation of children is retained in the Millenium, those end-time saints will also miss out on being parents.

Jewel is different. He's a magnificent unicorn. It's not a wonder that he's on most covers...he's an amazing character and a lovely one that would be interesting to potential readers. He's one of the last actual Narnians who is loyal to the king through and through. He's a symbol of what many of us would hope to be like in the end times I think. Faithful, steadfast...Jewel is a wonderful character.

In addition, Jewel illustrates Mr. Lewis' often-addressed theme of how "The highest can understand the lowest." Jewel was able to relate to the idiotic donkey Puzzle, and showed Christian charity to him.

Good point, you know. CF. I had noticed that Jewel kindly talked to Puzzle about hoof maintenance and things they could both understand, while Jewel was this ethereal beauty and valiant warrior, and Puzzle was just a plodding donkey who had been duped by a monkey. That really shows what a noble being Jewel was. :)
