Journey to the Center of the Earth (Movie and Book)

So last night I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth, and it was really good! Bascially, it's the story of a professor named Trevor (Brendan Fraser) who is studying volcanic activity at a university. His brother Max disappeared ten years before while doing field work in Iceland. Max's son, Sean (Josh Hutcherson), comes to stay with Trevor for ten days. Sean's mother brings a box of Max's old things to give to Trevor, and amongst them is Max's old copy of Journey to the Center of the Earth, a book by Jules Vern. Trevor sees all Max's annotations and realizes he probably went looking for the way into the center of the Earth when he disappeared. He and Sean fly up to Iceland and enlist the help of an Icelandic tourguide, Hannah (Anita Briem), who agrees to show them up the mountain.
And then some stuff happens.

And it's awsome.
Because there's Brendan Fraser.
It's incredible.
It's funny.
I lurve it.
Go see it.
Please.
Now.
I SAID NOW!!!

That's interesting that in this movie they would be AWARE OF the original book, rather than LIVING IT AS ITS CHARACTERS. The same thing was done in the most recent movie adaptation of H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine."

Totally! That way, they don't have to like, undergo that whole fandom thing like, "Ohmygod-they-so-did-not-do-such-and-such-right-I-will-die." It was really good that way, because I think if they literally had adapted Jules Verne's book it would not have been as great and appealing.

If they accurately filmed Verne's book, there would be no woman on the trip, nor any still-living missing person to search for in the caverns. In those early days of sci-fi, the saying was very applicable: "The story itself is the hero."

I haven't read the book and from what I've seen of the trailer, the movie looks a bit too graphic-y and kiddish for me xD But I really want to see it because Josh Hutcherson's one of my favourite actors.

But seriously, is it good? I just kinda got put off it because the trailer seemed to be too much like a videogame with all the graphics, especially that bit with those sea monster things xD

Jules Verne is one of my favorite authors...I want to go see this but I'll probobly have to wait for the DVD. Sounds interesting the way they approached it :p

*high five* Have you read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or Around the World in 80 Days? :D

Yep!I read 20,000 Leages Under the Sea for school, and Around the World in 80 Days for fun.:D
And I've seen both movies.:D
I love adventure books,esp. him,H.G. Wells,and Robert Louis Stevenson.

Me too :D But I've only seen the new Around the World in 80 Days, with Jackie Chan (it is a cute movie)...I read Treasure Island for school, I dont think Ive read any of his other work...And of HG Wells my favorite is The Time Machine:D

^I've seen the old Around the World, but I like the book better.Haven't seen the new movie, though.:)
"Kidnapped" is the best by Robert Louis Stevnson, imo. And the movie with Armand Assante is excellent.:D
I love Treasure Isalnd(book and live-action Disney movie) too.:)
I LOVE the old Time Machine movie(the 1960s version)..Yeah..the special effects are a little..*coughCornycough* but hey..:p

Just a little *cough*corny*cough* but thats okay ;) I've seen two versions of Treasure Island, one was very old...another was made in 1990 and starred a young Christian Bale (Batman):p
Oops we're off topic :p

Corny is fun, though.:p I love the old Twilight Zone, and its really corny.:p
^I have a tendency to do that.:p

I saw this movie and absolutely loved it! I saw it in 3d, which made it REALLY cool. And for any girls out there who adore Brendan Fraser...you could check out his body SO much better in 3d, lol. It was like standing right next to him...you could really tell how muscular he is. The movie was really awesome though, I might read the book sometime. The only thing i'm concerned about is they probably wont be able to release it in 3d on dvd :( Or will they? Either way, it was a great movie.

I just saw this this afternoon! Wow it was really good! I reccomend it for a good, clean family movie. (Use good judgement though, if you have a little sister afraid of huge, loud creatures trying to kill the main characters!:p)
