For those who forget the rules of the game, I post GondorGirl's description from Game 10:

JOBS:

Civilian: The majority of players are civilians. Civilians do nothing special, they just vote every day for who they think is a murderer.

Mafia/murderer: There are 4 Mafia, who get to kill one member every night. They PM the leader, telling the leader whom they want to kill.

Psychic: The Psychic gets to find out the job of one person per night.

Angel: The Angel saves one person every night. If the Angel saves the same person as the Mafia decide to kill, then that person doesn’t die.

Cupid: On the first night only, the Cupid PM’s the leader with the names of two people he/she wants to be ‘lovers’. If one of these lovers dies at any time in the game, the other one will too.

Duke: The Duke gets the option to veto the vote at the end of the day. He/she can choose to either stop the hanging or let it happen.

Bomb: The Bomb is just like a civilian except that on ONE night (whichever night the Bomb decides) during the game, he/she gets to kill one person. If the Bomb dies before he/she has used his/her bomb, then nobody gets bombed.

Medium: The medium gets to chose one day (only one day) in which all the ghosts can vote, dying cannot prevent the medium from using their power. They also allow all of the dead special jobs to use their powers. Use it wisely.

GAMEPLAY:

There are 2 periods of the game: day and night. During the nights, the murderers kill somebody, the Psychic finds out somebody’s job, the Angel save somebody, etc. During the days everybody votes on whom to hang at the end of the day.

The object of the game for the murderers is to kill everybody before they themselves are all hung. The object of the game for everybody else is to hang all the murderers before they're all dead. During the night, the murderers kill one person, the Psychic finds out the job of one person, the Angel saves one person, and (on the first night only) the Cupid picks two lovers. During the day, everybody votes on whom to hang for the last murder. (I will be putting people’s votes up in bold next to their names.) The Duke then decides on whether that person gets hung. Then it goes back to night and it starts over again. Don't forget to bold your official votes; otherwise they don't count!

We will be playing this game with time constraints, so each day and night will last 72 hours at the most.
For the days: The day ends (1) when all of the people have voted (and the Duke has PM'ed the leader), (2) when one person has more than half of the active votes (and the Duke has PM'ed the leader), or (3) when the 72 hours are up. If the vote is tied after the day ends, both people die (unless they're the last two people in the game, in which case the leader declares indecision). If the Duke does not PM the leader by the end of the 72 hours, the leader flips a coin to determine whether the voted-for person dies or not. Heads he/she dies, tails he/she doesn't.
For the nights: The night ends when (1) the murderers, Psychic, Angel, and (on the first night only) Cupid have all PM'ed the leader, or (2) when the 72 hours are up. If any of the people with night-jobs have not PM'ed the leader by the end of the night, the leader selects a name at random to go to that job. Thus if the murderers fail to PM the leader, the leader selects a name at random for them to kill, if the Psychic fails to PM the leader, the leader selects a person at random to tell the job of to the Psychic, etc.

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale..

At the end of Game 10, the Civilians celebrated their startling victory over the forces of evil that were the Mafia...

So great was their rejoicing that they determined to leave Mafiatown once and for all, ensuring that the Mafia would never make them live in fear again.

When they received cruise tickets, they jumped at the chance to leave the past behind. Imagine their terror when they discovered that, after dropping them off on a nameless tropical island, their ship and its captain were nowhere to be found. Making their way to the decrepit hotel smack dab in the center of the island and expecting a tasty pineapple beverage, the civilians discovered the following note:

CIVILIANS:

WE WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED. WE ARE HERE ON THE ISLAND WITH YOU, WE PLANNED YOUR TRIP, AND YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE THIS HOTEL.

LOVE,
THE MAFIA

 Wow...

I think that's the best transition I've ever seen. :D All the other leaders (myself included) just said something like, "Okay, time for game such-and-such". Yours is much better. :D

ROFL, especially that 'Love, the mafia' is awesome:D

Anyway: is this a 'dead man tell no tales' game, or are ghosts allowed to speak in the thread?

I think ghosts should be allowed to speak. I've stated this before, and I have a couple arguments that I'm gonna go find right now.

Mafia is a game of treachery and backstabbing, of intrigue and double-crossing, of mystery and mayhem. An integral part of this is the ghosts. They roam the virtual streets at will, totally unafraid - for who can harm a ghost? They listen at doors, peep at keyholes, and hide in nooks and crannies, picking up scraps of murmured conversation which they pass on to their living allies. With this new rule, the ghosts no longer skulk about the streets of Mafiatown, but rather are forced to stay away, watching and waiting. A great part of the fun of Mafia has departed, and who can say when it will return?
Besides, it's up to the voters who they vote for. The ghosts do not vote. They can only influence the vote if the voters allow themselves to be influenced. So, it's really the voters fault if the ghosts can swing the vote. What's more, the only way ghosts can really successfully influence the vote is by presenting evidence. Such evidence is often correct. So, when ghosts influence the vote, it's either somewhat unsuccessful or for a good reason.

ok we've heard your view now Olorin, but it's up to Inkling to decide now.

Wow, Invisi-ink, are you trying to make the rest of us former hosts look like laggards.

Anyways, I love the story line.

Ya know, I really don't think the mafia would sign something 'love'.

*blushes profusely* Just wait until you hear what the Mafia have cooked up

ok we've heard your view now Olorin, but it's up to Inkling to decide now.

Okay, I've consulted the brain trust here in my house (consisting of my bunny Nutmeg and my new puppy Keely) on the issue of whether or not ghosts should have a voice.

Nutmeg thought the ghosts should eat more carrots, but Keely reminded me that the ghosts do have one chance to weigh in: the Medium. That's one smart Border Collie. That'll do, Keely!

Thus, the official ruling is that ghosts *may* not vote until the Medium gives them that right.

Of course, what happens outside the thread stays outside the thread; after all, dead men tell no tales :p
