In Mr. Tumnus book review of TMN, how does the origin’s of the Witch in TMN contradict what is told to the children in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. :)

I'm not entirely sure. In LWW they say that Jadis is family from Adam and Lilith, a Jinn. So she is a Jinn and a Giant, but i'm not sure what they say about her in MN...

I still don't really see a contradiction about Jadis origins in LWW and MN, if you know the story of Lilith and her knowledge of magical words (Lilith knew a word that allowed her to fly) and that she latter became a servant of Satan and gave birth to jinns. This is a history she probably passed down to her decendants. How someone of Lilith ancestery ended up in Charn is a interesting question. In MN it is said that the magic of the rings came from Atlantis and thus it is likely that Judis came to Charn that way. It is said that Lilith lived in Atlantis and survived its destruction. Being a desendant of Lilith, she is not of Adam and Eve, but Lilth saw herself as equal to man and mankind. So it seems that old Jack did blend the Jadis of MN and LWW well.

Now Lilith living in Atlantis isn't a myth. Edgar Cayce put forward this story of Lilith. It is likey that Lewis was familiar with Cayce's writings.
