I picked this up at B&N yesterday along with a couple of nice bookmarks. Has anyone else taken a look at it? My first impressions are positive; it has a lot of nice pictures. Haven't really starte to dive into the reading just yet. One thing though I noticed in particular was the lack of pictures with Aslan. There is only one full page one and it's concept art. I did fild later a smaller one and some shots of some of the puppetry items they used, but that was it. Apparently they are downplaying the religious significance not only in the movie, but in the promo items as well.

I also looked at the movie storybook as well and there wasn't a single picture of Aslan in it! I refused to even buy it. A storybook about Narnia needs at least one picture of Aslan or it just isn't done justice.

Anyone else notice this trend?

I have had it since April 5th, and I love it. So long as they keep making all the books into movies, I will end up with a complete set of them (I already have LWW and PC), they will match my set of rack-sized movie tie-in edition books:D:D:D:D

I love them both, too... with the exception of too little Aslan in the PC one. They're extremely well designed with a lot of good info. I got mine from Barnes and Noble for around $20, but there are some places that have them a little cheaper than that.

I saw this book at Mardel and I am really looking forward to going back and getting it! It looks so good!
I didn't buy it a couple weeks ago because I wanted to see the movie first. :)

They definitely are downplaying the christian significance. Even in the movie Aslan only had a "minor" role. I don't know what Narnia are they making movies about because the one in the books is better.

This very issue has been the most disapointing thing of all to me as far as PC goes. I loved it with LWW because they really did the opposite - accentuated and confirmed it. I hope this will return for VODT!

I have the movie companion for LWW and love it. I'm going to get the one for PC, but I'm going to order it online. I'm not paying $20 for it when I can get it on Amazon for about $14. :p

My family bought the book back in April...I've already gone through it twice! I love all the gorgeous photos in the book, especially the shots of the locations.

Yes!!! I got it finally! Me and a friend we to the mall and we stopped at Borders and I didn't think about getting it until we walked in and then I remembered that it might of been in stock. And it was! I'm happy right now.

I just got the movie companion for PC out of the library.I'm about 1/3 way through. Its terrific!!!:D

It's kinda funny that they don't have much of Aslan in these books, because I was looking for a Caspian/Ben Barnes bookmark today, and all I found were Aslan bookmarks, lol! I was looking through the PC movie companion thing u guys are talking about, but book wise, all im really interested in are pictures of Caspian, and I don't need to pay 20 dollars to see that. I'm very excited for the Caspian dvd to come out though :D

Here's a cute anecdote:

This past week while working with a client (he has CP and is bound to a wheel chair). He was playing a video game so I took out my copy of "The Last Battle" and started reading it when he asks me what book was that. I told him it was one of the Narnia books and he's like, "No it isn't." I asked him why and he says "Because the Lion, Aslan is not on the cover." I laughed and was like, "So if the Lion is not on it than is not a Narnia book?" And he said, "Nope. No Lion, no Narnia." I thought that was the most adorable thing to have happened to me this past week! Even a 9-year old kid is able to recognize the significance of Aslan to Narnia.
