Olorin's Graphics Gallery

Well, at the insistence of several people, I have finally decided to take the plunge and start my own graphics thread. I'm not sure if I'll take requests or not, I'll figure that out later.

I've been making graphics for about 2 years. Up until about 3 months ago, I used a combination of PhotoFiltre and Photobie, which didn't work all that well, because PhotoFiltre (which I used for most stuff) didn't support layers and, while Photobie did, it had a terribly confusing user interface. Then, about 3 months ago, I switched to a program called Paint.NET, which is a free graphics program that has almost as much capability as Photoshop. It also has a huge library of independantly-coded plugins, which expand its power a lot.

So, anyway, on with the pictures!

We'll start with the stuff I made with my old programs:

Aragorn banner:

Legolas banner:

Boromir banner:

Gandalf banner:

Banner that I made for 9/11:

Now we get into the stuff I've made with the newer program.

a Duffer Banner (literally!):

A photo manipulation I made for a competition:

lol I know right

so this Paint.net what exactly is it?

It's a graphic image editing program, similar to the GIMP but with a simpler user interface (which it can do because it's based on the Microsoft .NET framework. this allows it to use floating windows). It supports layers/blending modes, and comes with a number of built-in tools and effects. It's missing a few popular tools, i.e. a smudge tool, a blur tool, a magnetic lasso selection tool, a polygonal selection tool, etc. Anybody who knows how to code a plugin can make new effects, but not new tools.

Here's the website.

Very nice Olorin, I like the Edmund banner and I really like that picture of a window. those are all very nice.

Yeah! It was developed by Cougs! w/ Microsoft's help of course...:p
